best way to change the world

RE: best way to change the world
Of coarse.

Hehe

I'm a socialist, an american, and a parent.

I'm not a Christian's worst nightmare, but I assure you that my children will be because there's FOUR of them, and more coming in the future. All he was saying is that breeding Christians out of existence is a good idea. It's not going to happen... it might happen (please, baby jesus let it happen! amen). It's okay to dream. Christians do it all the time with their revelation/apocalypse/judgement day/god exists/prayer works nonsense.

If you look at the current snapshot you could get that impression. But that would be tunnel vision of course. Because if you juxtapose the theists/atheists figures of today to the situation 1 and 2 centuries ago an entirely different picture will emerge.

Atheism – hand in hand with science, education, and emancipation – is like a glacier. It appears frozen, but it does move. And it never stops. For anything. And eventually it erodes and flattens entire mountain ranges.

If the religious do not accept that global warming is a people problem then those glaciers will continue to melt away till they are never more. So goes your theory of the religious. There will always be the superstitious and it's apparent you are deceived about God, between the two, atheist have no chance of ridding the earth of the religious or christians.

Even when I was a confident-in-my-beliefs Christian like you, you and me were still not on the same page, and we probably never will be.

If as a christian you did not see God's plan, then you were in a situation that would make deception by yourself easier to believe.

I did not say you were, nor do I believe that your children will be, nonbelievers have no power because no belief has no substance.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

It has evidence. What's more substantial than that? Believing in something with no evidence is not substantial, it's ignorant. Some white people used to believe that if they used the same toilet as black people they'd be contaminated. Nobody believes it anymore because it's ridiculous and false as shown by evidence.

Do you believe that?

A bad idea?

As in fatuous, yes, as simple solutions to complex problems tend to be.That's assumimng there IS a problem, which I reject.

My observation is that the most common use of religion is self justification. Without any religion, we human beings would remain the same aggressive, greedy and stupid animals we have always been.

Look, we've already established in the member photos thread exactly why anyone should deconvert.

I've done my part without donating my uterus and 24 years or so of my life. I'd rather spend some of it helping those already on this rock with their problems.

On the other hand, I've seen some of the men on this board and they're mighty tasty. Can we discuss practicing breeding people out?

Your kids don't always turn out to be what you want them to be. If they did I'd be asking Mary to ask Jesus to do some self-centered bullshit for me, instead of thinking of real solutions through which I can reasonably obtain said bullshit.

I worry all the time about my kids being swayed by the con of religion. I'm handing off the ball and hoping they run with it. You really don't need the bible to teach your kids to be moral/compassionate. Leading by example works the best.

Of course not.

Ethically speaking, it is immoral to force individual's own beliefs/doctrine into children. Just like religious fundamentalists did to their own blood, for instance. However, the foundation of atheism is not based on the foundation of doctrine that religion spare with humanity.

Belief and doctrine aside, we still can teach children the education regarding physics, science and critical thinking. Apparently that is what schools for. Education is very important, because it made me, well, smarter enough to see what's wrong with Christianity - Yep, I was a former Christian.

There's some things I am concerned with school's noneducational stuff such as:

-Intelligent Design
-Religiously biased teachers
-Religion related peer pressure.

I will not tolerant if my kid being subjected by religious peer pressure in school for prayer or religion-related reasons! If they do, they'll excepting the rabid-mad man about 1.9 meters tall and 250 pounds. Oh, let's not forget man's trusty, sidekick superhero named lawyer!

As usual I have no idea what you're ranting on about.

When I was a Christian I shared my mother's beliefs in that God's plan was screwed up by Adam and Eve's disobedience. His grand design was ruined by the emergence of sin with Lucifer's fall from grace. Instead of glorifying us, he would now have work with his son to try and "pick up the pieces" to merely ensure that his entire creation isn't condemned, salvaging the recoverable souls for his own name's sake.

You believe this sky daddy has a plan? The same deity who regretted creating man on the Earth and sought to wipe us all out in a flood? Really?

I say again: What plan? There is no plan.

Bad idea. Just because your enemies eat more food than you do doesn't mean you need to get fatter.
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day

Nor is there any reason they should. Parents have no rights of expectation of how their children 'turn out' as adults..They DO have some responibilites.
