Then what did you mean by "the shedding of blood shows us the awfulness of sin"?

That so many animals had to be killed to atone for the sins of man until Jesus put an end to it, by giving Himself as the perfect sacrifice. One reason God allow this to happen was so man would never forget the cost of sin.

Sure he could. But being a good Republican, God is concerned about inflation. Not like that tax-and-spend, let's-just-print-more-money legged snake devil that set us on the path to ruin.

Anyway, the real cost to God as a result of this story has been a loss of self-esteem due to the company he has been forced to keep for the past couple of millennia. I have to wonder at his alleged omniscience. If he had seen the likes of GC coming, I would think he would have concocted a more elegant scheme for bringing about his will, just to weed out the nutters and more embarrassing specimens. That, or he really has no taste whatsoever.

He foresaw sending out armies of apologists, and them failing miserably to convince informed atheists of anything. He foresaw himself giving them no help whatsoever, no new evidence or support. He was not surprised that they failed, for that was his plan.

He foresaw me thinking he is a turnip fucker, and saying so on a forum while he does nothing about it.

Two wrongs don't make a right, though. Disobeying Yahweh doesn't cause death. Demanding death in exchange for disobedience doesn't make things better.

You need to explain things better if you want an answer.

This makes your god a fucking moron. Threatening me with eternal torment is not an effective way to gain my affection.

Ok. You are sayign doing something bad, like killing animals, was done to show how bad sinning is. Doing something bad to show how bad another wrong thing is makes no sense. You're just multiplying the bad things, instead of fixing the original wrong. Though it's really debatable is free willed people doing things of their own free will is actually wrong. A flaw in the system, at best.

He kills, and demands the killing, of things because he's angry. Not because death is the natural effect of what made him angry, which is disobedience. It has no constructive result, because killing animals doesn't make people more obedient, so it's just killing for killing's sake.

I hope you do, sin can't be atoned for by sin.

Yes He did, yet because they had free will He still gave them the opportunity to chose to do the right thing. He did not force them to chose one way or the other, He has the power to do that, instead he was letting them determine their future regardless of what it would cost Him in the future. It cost Him dearly.
My neighborhood better get ready for a mass killing soon, because it wouldn't be a sin.

No, he gave them the brain chemistry that would lead them to do specific things. He gave Adam the just right amount of testosterone and other personality changing chemicals that would ultimately lead to the original sin. If I program a robot to do exactly what I thought it would do, and then get mad at it for doing it.

He obviously failed because billions of people around the world have never even HEARD about Jesus, before and after him.
