Yeah, it's weird when I heard a clip about Bill O'Reily where he said "Tide comes in. Tide goes out. Can't explain it.". I'm like, did you drop out of school, or something? You failed physical science class? What?
Honestly Bill O' Reily like most republicans are just fucking morons who love to shovel out money into a furnace called the military.
In all truth we spend to much money on the military there is money that could go int NASA and Schooling and money that can go back
into the economy and some to actually start paying off our debt. The biggest thing is we love spending money on the military we just never
see where the funding truly goes. We can half or just take away 75% from the military budget and we still would dominate the world while we use that 75% on stuff that truly matters and what's left over can go back into the military a good 15% to 19%. I mean for fucks sakes we still use books in class rooms instead of computers.

What's wrong with books? They're an efficient and simple means of distributing teaching info.

Agreed. Despite what Jay Leno and Bill O'Rielly will have you believe, the younger people of every generation has been stupid. On average they are ignorant of basic politics and civics. The argument today is that the past generations had an excuse to be ignorant (no internet). But a kid shouldn't have to do independent research on basic US history and basic US politics. They should get all the info they need from their classes. Just because the new generation has technology doesn't mean we can ignore the problems of the education system without feeling guilty.
Kids should actually attend their classes, but with schools being bad as they are, it's hard to blame them for not wanting to be there.

I'm not saying books are bad but the lack updated text is a big issue nowadays.
More or less it's cheaper to use computers now than it is to buy books i love books but
were in a day and age were we should be using more computers. But i get what you are trying to say.

I have to say, I'm disappointed the thread title isn't something like:

Let's be honest school from when i was in it i noticed this you weren't there to learn more or less you were there to learn to pass
a test so your school could get funding that is the problem with education. You only learn to pass a test so your school can get money
that is the problem with American education. I was told that stuff you learn in high school is going to follow you the rest of your life i
learned that is a bunch of bullshit i only really kept the mathematics and even then i had to unlearn it when i got in college only to realize
public school education in reality is a joke.

I can agree with you. though your last comment seems weird. Are their classrooms where they solely use computers for all subjects?

I mean for subjects that only really need computers i guess math can be one as well but some just don't need. Chemistry you definitely need
a computer for that type of class i mean memorizing the periodic table of elements in a week or two but only then they could use tablets. Not all classes itself would need computers but stuff like English etc would need it. Math could use computers too since you could google how to use a certain formula.

Yes, it sucks that schools teach you to pass, more than other things.
What's also bad is the way it's distributed. It doesn't work. I live in a low income area. We have uneducated people teaching our kids, because nobody wants to teach here. The pay is bad and the standards are low. There's no money for after school clubs, science fairs, even pencils! If a kid's pencil needs sharpening, kid better carry a back up. No fucken gawd damned sharpeners! I personally know many teachers here who didn't finish school, but teaching was better than chopping lettuce out of the ground. Wealth in your neighborhood determines the quality of the education your kids get. So, sons and daughters of poor lettuce pickers are destined to drop out and pick lettuce to help out. Round and round we go. Drive a little, turn the corner, rich folks have better schools, programs for the gifted and failing, better sports fields and coaches, actual games and fairs, even educated teachers! Of course, they too have standardized testing, but still. Our education system is bull.

Here's one aspect of the problem that never gets talked about enough.
http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/59...y-generals
Quote:The Pentagon's Biggest Overrun: Way Too Many Generals
Quote:However, studies that I started years ago show that there are way too many generals for troops, planes and ships and these generals also make sure that their turf and positions are protected. They are costing us far more than their high salaries, retirements and perks; they are using their positions to protect the status quo in the military.
We need more indians and fewer chiefs.
