Game Over for Trump
RE: Game Over for Trump
Jeb is not a psycho.  He had no chance of winning the nomination.

Here's a prediction.  The republicunts will learn absolutely nothing from 2016.  Oh sure, the pundits will sit there and say the party has to become more inclusive but the conservatards will insist that once again they lost because they failed to run a "true conservative."  Since the primary votes they are striving for all seem to be from the nut wing of the party in 2020 there will again be a plethora of hopefuls each striving to show the primary voters that he/she is a bigger nazi than all the rest of the fucktards.

And around we will go again.

This.

Hopefully, as demographics shift, the GOP will No True Scotsman themselves into irrelevancy. I thought that was already happening, but Trump's ascension makes it very clear that there's a frightening number of monstrous people out there, more than I imagined. I eagerly await their downfall.

Again, people aren't voting for Trump because of policy position; they're voting because he doesn't represent politics as usual. This is why his outlandish quotes don't mean a fuck... The more outlandish the better.

If the Dem voters had the cajones of the GOP voters Sanders would be the nominee. Why the left thinks this election has anything to do with policy position is beyond me.

These Trump supporters are not voting for a president. They are voting for a celebrity.

These Clinton supporters are 't voting for a Preskdent; they're voting for someone that can magically conjure records only when subpoenaed, stands by her philandering husband for political expediency, willfully lies about getting shot at as First Lady, carpet bagged he state of New York for a Senate seat, manufactures her position on Obama's cabinet, changes her accent depending on her audience, etc.

Her claims to office is that she's not Trump and she hasn't been convicted. Truly awe inspiring. This is the measure of someone worthy of the office. Congratulations. The barncouldn't possibly be set lower by a former Senator and Secretary of State.

Please, by all means, continue to bestow upon this individual an office that is commensurate with her exaggerated sense of self worth. She's a self evgrandizing charlaton.

There's that, but being in a Republican family, the No True Scotsman aspect of it is absolutely true. They blame the last two Presidential election losses on the candidates' moderate (to them) nature. That's why the field has generally moved more evangelical and Tea Party. It's a reaction to the base demanding that they go hard right, and it's why classic conservatives like Jeb, Christie, and Kasich never had a chance.

To many of the Republican voters, it's not just that Trump is an outsider. If that mattered most to them, Ross Perot would've won in his day. No, what's important is the type of outsider Trump is. And the common refrains from supporters are "he tells it like it is," "he's not afraid to be politically incorrect," and so on. And that's what these people are looking for - cultural conservativism first, from which political conservativism will flow.

I'm not just pulling this from my ass. My brothers, my cousin, their friends and coworkers all think along these lines. They don't necessarily like Trump as person, but they like that he's not cowed by modern social pressures and believe that strength will allow him to repeal Obamacare, to restructure/eliminate welfare, to combat BLM and regain control of our cities, to defeat ISIS, to get another conservative judge (or two) in SCOTUS, etc.

I'm not saying it's logical, but it is what's going on, at least partially.

You are right Cato, when has the right ever cared about policy in the last 2 decades? They only care about the facade.

And Sanders at least came close. If he was just a little younger, I think he'd have a big chance next election.

I've been quite clear on these forums that I won't vote for Trump, but I so won't condone the coronation of Clinton. The Dems could have run Mr. Potato Head and best Trump, but instead my only real option is this loathesome self-serving cunt. Some choice.

To be clear, I won't vote for either, but don't for a moment strut around as if Clinton is sime great candidate. Democrats are equally responsible for this morass,

Aside from 2 or 3 people on here, no one is saying "woohoo, Clinton!" I wanted Bernie to shock the world.
