I don't know why resurrection is considered such a big deal anyway. In the first book he created everything ever. Standing a dead Jew back up is hardly comparable.

If Christians truly believed Jesus died for a persons sins they would not convict a murderer if he " got saved" during the murder trial. Secular justice is real, Jesus is not. Deep down inside there must be some doubt.

Hope your surgery is going well and that it helps!
Here is why the resurrection is a big deal:
1) It is a testimony (not proof) that Jesus is who he said he is (i.e. God). He predicted that he would be killed and then rise on the third day, and that this is what the Father sent him to do. The resurrection is a confirmation of that prediction, and it lends credence to the other promises he makes.
2) His resurrection is meant for every person. If he rose from the dead, then everyone (atheist, theist, Jew, Christian, Muslim, Zoroastrian, etc.) will also rise from the dead. Death is not, therefore, the end. All things will be restored to an existence without corruption and death (i.e. eternal existence).
3) Our actions in this life determine our manner of eternal existence in the resurrected life. You will live in eternal reality inherent in your temporal actions. If you live in eternal life at the resurrection, you are living the eternal life which you created through your merciful actions in this temporal life. If you are living an eternal torment at the resurrection, you are living the eternal torment which you created through your shitty actions in this temporal life. Your temporal life is the summation of your freedom. Did you choose love, justice and mercy? Or did you choose fear, self-seeking, and power? The resurrection will reveal to everyone what you've chosen through your life's actions.

It was bullshit in the first century, even more so now.

Are you referring to Luke 24:46?
Quote:Jesus claimed another fulfillment of nonprophecy in Luke 24:46. Speaking to his disciples on the night of his alleged resurrection, he said, "Thus it is written and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day." That the resurrection of Christ on the third day was prophesied in the scriptures was claimed also by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4: "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures." In two different places, then, New Testament writers claimed that the resurrection of the Messiah on the third day had been predicted in the scriptures. Try as they may, however, bibliolaters cannot produce an Old Testament passage that made this alleged third-day prediction. It simply doesn't exist.

Doesn't seem like much of a prophecy. Sounds more like a simple legend recorded two places after the fact.

Absent self-resurrection, the Christian God is but quite dead.

No. I am referring to Mt 16:21-28; Mk 8:31-38; Lk 9:21-27; John 2:18-22, 10:17:18

This implies that god will resurrect some people for the specific purpose of causing them unending torment. That will seem like a just punishment for some people, but how many rebellious teens who committed suicide will be writhing in agony for all of eternity next to Adolf Hitler? And does it really ease the conscience to say that they created this punishment through their shitty actions in this temporal life? Will god hear those cries and do nothing for the billions of people writing in torment forever and ever because they were poor citizens for a portion of the infinitesimally small slice of time that they existed? For every child-abuser, how many drug addicts will be writhing in torment for the rest of time? For every mafia hit-man, how many gays? For every wife beater, how many atheists?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

How does this work then? I mean physically. After all, we are physical beings, therefore to interact with us there have to be physical mechanisms.
Some being that you call a god would need to scan every the state of every atom in the body. This information would need to saved to some sort of hard storage to be recalled at a later date. Where is this information stored? Why haven't physicists or medical scientists ever recorded any of this information being scanned at death? How is the scanning being achieved? Say someone dies from a neurodegenerative disease, do they get resurrected in the same mentally impaired state at the point of death? What's stopping someone who died from cancer being resurrected and dying again?
And are the same atoms retrieved from around the world and reassembled? Or is one carbon atom as good another? In which case are the resurrected humans just copies? Or if the original atoms were re-used, what happens if it's already a part of someone else still alive?
And more importantly, are all your answers to the questions I have asked in the Bible or did you just make them up because you want to believe in the fantasy?
