They like to blame them on natural disasters, on terrorist attacks. This goes back before gay marriage too. gays were blamed for 9/11. One christian I knew blamed gays for Trump being in the white house because it's 'god's punishment'. For all the other sins out there, none get quite the same attention gay people do. The level of hatred for them by some Christians is just... out there. Is it because they need a group to hate, and it's not popular to hate black people anymore? I don't get the obsession, really.
I mean you don't see NEAR the vitrol for people who've divorced... or cheated on their spouse. They hold people like that up in high esteem. (As long as they're on their side of course). Or for murderers even. Another Christian I know said that H.H. Holmes could get to heaven--but a gay person couldn't.
Maybe gay people simply over Dramatize the christian position so they too can die on a cross.
Homosexuality is a sin like any other sexual sin. No better no worse. As such requires repentance to enter Heaven. Homosexuality is not the unforgivable sin, but at the same time like any other heterosexual sex centered sin it will not be forgiven of if one does not repent.
One can not 'repent' if by the culture and in their own mind one is not in sin.
The fight if any is to maintain the homosexual sin status so that any struggling homosexual can still find a place with their God if they so choose to have it. Removing said sin status dooms the individual to Hell no matter what they feel of God internally.
Ironically one could point out that the the one fighting to keep Homosexuality a sin, care more for the sinner than those who would allow this sin or any to go without acknowledging it's sin status.
And there we go. You Christians sure are obsessed with where people put their dicks. Why would you care this much?

Makes me long for the good old days of Christianity when the Jews were blamed for everything.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I don't.
Like I said, 'strange folk' tend to over dramatize subjects so they can be martyrs.
I simply said of those strange folk who wish to be in a relationship with God must repent. Those who do not wish this, can spend eternity wherever they like.

Still mysterious is the attention, at whatever level, cast upon the gays, and the difference from that cast upon the divorced and remarried.
Even open and notorious adultery seems to garner nary even a glance of disapproval these days, yet preachers still rail against ho-mo-sex-ual marriage as though it was the only thing Jesus Himself ever commanded be taught from the pul-pit.
The Westboro folks do, on occasion, carry a placard regarding divorce, but it is just very, very occasional. Makes the disproportionality of it all the more strange.

Yep, sexual sin is sexual sin. Doesn't make a difference whether it comes from a gay or straight person. I too have noticed this double standard you speak of. But it's no mystery to me why it exists. It's bc it's much easier for ppl to be critical of sins that they personally have never struggled with and can't relate to.
As for the Westboros, they're all just a bunch of heartless trolls. I wouldn't give them any more credibility than that.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

~ half the married people divorce, and the vast majority of them remarry.
Why aren't they struggling with the salvific aspects of their adultery ?

That's probably because you are not a Real Christian , you are a Catholic.
The was supposed to be humor, btw, in case it wasn't apparent.

My only real concern comes from the Christians who actually act on these beliefs. I don't care what they believe all too much, but I do care when it becomes dangerous or illegal to be against their beliefs. That's often the case with homosexuality in particular.

It also doesn't explain WHY they consider any of this a sin.

If anything, I would say gay ppl have less culpability for their sexual sins than straight ppl do. All us straight ppl need to do is wait until we're married and not have sex with anyone else besides our spouse. That's nothing at all compared to what is asked of gay folks. Gay folks are expected to not only never do anything sexual ever, but also to give up the idea of a loving life long relationship with a significant other and have a family. That's a lot to ask of someone, and so i have nothing but compassion and understanding for you.
