Put it this way. I am known to drink, now, for reasons beyond the scope of this thread. I'm drunk as I type this. Yet whatever my state of mind, I don't believe there are chemicals in existence that could get me to think the way some of them do. And if I ever do, you all have my permission to shoot me through the head, as it would no longer be me.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Now if it's his position that the elect can lose salvation, then he must prove it by scripture.
Well, looks like we have three different options:
1) The Elect cannot lose their salvation because, well, they are part of "the Elect".
2) Some of the Elect can lose their salvation but get it back, and if they do, they will go to Heaven, otherwise, they will burn in Hell forever.
3) Anyone who is not saved can be saved after spending some amount of time in Hell, which would, of course, include the Elect in #2.
I gave scripture that supports number one, where are the scriptures in support of 2 and 3?
The Bible clearly states that it is impossible for the elect to be deceived (and lose their salvation as a result).
Quote:For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. - Matthew 24:24
The Bible gives a perfect illustration of this in the example of Abraham and Lot. Abraham was elected of God while Lot was an example of a nominal Christian. When God visited Abraham and told him he was going to have a Child with Sarah, the Bible says Sarah, in the tent behind them laughed in her heart, and when asked why she laughed, she denied it essentially calling God a liar to his face. If it had been any other person God would have killed her, but she was part of Abraham and God couldn't punish her without hurting Abraham.
In contrast, Lot being in Sodom was warned to escape and not to look back, yet his wife looks back and is killed, so essentially she was on her way to salvation and lost it...
Quote:For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, - Hebrews 10:26
So explain how you can go to hell and get out after you rejected the opportunity while you were alive?
Quote:Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. - John 8:21
If you die a sinner there is nothing left for you but judgement.

Unlikely, Hugs. It was probably just another opportunity to watch all of you trip over each others dicks. I think we all know that, don't we? To your respective credits...you never fail to deliver on that.

Well, you didn't have to troll each other.....that's just a happy coincidence. There was only -one- correct answer to OP Q.

The Bible is clear that those born of God do not commit sin.
Quote:Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. - 1 John 3:9
So obviously the scripture you posted is not speaking of the elect, what point were you trying to make?

Seeing how I only replied to atheists, you kind of put them (that includes you) in the troll category, but not thinking before you speak is sort of your M.O. isnt it?

I posted this in the Christian subforum, as it is a "discussion specific to Christianity (any denomination) should go here." A completely appropriate topic, no?

It says, clearly, one of you. The author was talking to believers, no? How can one "wander from the truth" if they are not part of The Elect to begin with?
