What you DON'T hear about is all the crimes stopped, and lives saved BECAUSE somebody has a gun.

It DOES  happen.

But, again, your argument is weak.

Those incidences are far outnumbered by innocent citizens who are injured or killed with guns.

The average number of fatal police shootings, for all reasons, is just over three per day in the US. That's justified, unjustified, uncertain, and other. So Americans have one chance in >100,000,000 of being killed by a cop on any given day. Not even Min, our dedicated cop hater, can find one fatal shooting a day.

Go through - and read a bit of this -- first off - the number of unarmed people being shot is down....

Most cases - the " victim" has a weapon.

Moral of the story - don't be waving weapons at cops - dumbass.....

This bullshit that civilians who do not get constant muscle memory training, and stress shooting training, WHICH IS a constant thing with professionals, if the professionals an make tragic mistakes like in this story, the odds are far higher with civilians with far less hours of such, that they are, AS THE STATS PROVE, more likely to get injured or injure the wrong person.

Arming more is not a solution. It is just a fear mongering ploy sold by one profit lobby's leadership to protect the industry profits.

In fairness, shooting is justified if the person shows signs that they may do imminent harm to another. I think holding a gun on someone shows the possibility of imminent harm.

On the other side of the coin, he was wearing a uniform, and that should have been a big clue.

Oh how strange here in Texas where we have (and I participate in) open carry this story hasn't been swarming my newsfeed. Is anyone surprised?

This is 100% awful and as horrible as it is it reminds me of the zombie horror movie where the black guy manages to survive the night with the zombies only to get killed by other humans that think he is a zombie because they didn't check before shooting. That scene has always stayed with me. I know it was written that way and it is fiction but it drove home the point that even if you do everything right you can still lose. This poor security guard... my heart breaks.
