The Church acts like its a government and has a massive bureaucracy. People are turned off by that kind of religion. There is a history even if it's not entirely reliable. Scholars go by the method of multiple attestation to derive things about his life which they are fairly certain is true, such as that he was born in Nazareth, he had some connection to the historical John the Baptist, he preached the end of days, he was crucified by the Romans.

as "historically reliable."  Give me a break.  You are not a primitive goat herder.  What do you think would happen if a "star" did that.  Or, is that where you start making excuses for your gospels in the customary manner of apologetics?
