Now I know why many Catholics are leaving that church, they see a major discrepancy between the church and the original Jesus movement.

It's not about religion. It's about history. No serious historian in the field doubts the historical existence of Jesus of Nazareth.

There used to be (kindof still are), won't surprise you to find that they were greeks, I bet. The notion that our myths and legends or mythical or legendary heroes have a historical basis is actually named after a mythographer that proposed this centuries back. Euhemerus. Euhemerism.

Euhemerus argued that Zeus was a mortal king who died on Crete, and that his tomb could still be found there with the inscription bearing his name.[9] This claim however did not originate with Euhemerus, as the general sentiment of Crete during the time of Epimenides of Knossos (c. 600 BC) was that Zeus was buried somewhere in Crete. For this reason, the Cretans were often considered atheists, and Epimenides called them all liars (see Epimenides paradox). Callimachus, an opponent of Euhemerus' views on mythology, argued that Zeus' Cretan tomb was fabricated, and that he was eternal:

It's also a mistake to compare Semitic religions to pagan mythology. Semitic religions are based off historical human figures known as Prophets, and actual kings that ruled, from Saul, David and Solomon to Herod Antipas.

Why, why is it a mistake, lol?  Much of the semetic religions -are- pagan mythologies. Those kings and prophets you just mentioned are legendary..at best. That significant mythmaking has occurred in the case of their persons is also true, even if those characters are legendary rather than mythical in the first place.
