Hey, if it is, there's a real nice wife avoidance thing they have nowadays called "divorce". Better that than stumbling the next time one decides to throw a tv, and dropping it on her head. If somebody thinks that the social status quo is unfair now, just imagine that trial.

I'm guessing that I don't even want to know the answer to why you respond to her in that way, or why you've decided that the best way going forward is just to talk to her less. Because avoiding a problem is always a good way of solving it

Not really. Those three points are all supported by research. The first point has been pretty controversial, and a lot of websites discussing it have been taken down. They weren't taken down because fault was found with the research. Academia has sort of fallen prey to political correctness.
The second and third points are pretty well accepted and not strenuously contested.

"Forced to listen to harpy" and "conversation" are not the same thing. That a lot of people think they are the same is a big part of these problem situations.

Actually, he should have called the police when she physically blocked him from leaving. That was illegal. She physically impeded him from leaving. And don't give me any shit about how a weak little woman can't physically stop a man from exiting. If he had forced her aside, then he could have been arrested. Instead of throwing the TV, he should have just called the police and had her arrested. It is absolutely illegal to force a person to remain in a building that they are trying to leave. Men need to get savvy about this shit.

That's a pretty serious false dilemma. Just because I don't want to engage in conversations likely to upset me doesn't mean I don't love my wife, or that I don't value what we've built together. It does mean we're not best buds like I thought we'd be, and that I don't really communicate with her as much as I used to.
As for divorce-- nah. Part of being a man is making commitments matter. Kids matter, the house matters, the family business matters. I'm not throwing all that away because my wife and I aren't head-over-heels in love in our late 40s.
Maybe when the little guy goes off to college, discussions will be had. Until then. . . I have you guys to shower me in love!
