One advantage of small towns.

One advantage of small towns.
Across the street from my insurance agent's office, and just a few doors away from two taverns is a corner bookstore that went out of business. Sitting on the sidewalk in front of a large plate glass window is three bricks and a concrete block. They have been there for over a month.

Think you'd see that in "the big city"?

I'd bet not.

Yes, you did. The first town I lived in, Summitville, Indiana, had ~1,000 people. I could see every house in town from the four-way stop.

We don't have enough money for sculptors of that magnitude.

In a big city - if there' s a loose brick in view of a window - you lose a window. No theft is necessary.

Just plain old asshole behavior.

Just an observation, I don't think it's so much city people are worse than country people (not that anyone said that, but I'm thinking out loud-ish). I think it's more density of population. Put more people in a space and there are likely to be more assholes. That said, the rural town I grew up in loads of broken windows. It's something teens do for some reason. I can't recall ever doing it, but I probably would have.

I live in a suburb of Philadelphia where people throw their garbage everywhere. I don't remember that being a problem when I lived in a city of 35,000 in Indiana.

Yup I see it all the time in Ottawa . That's not to say there is no violence or vandalism but it's not common in most area's. It's even nicer in Quebec City .
