It's completely on topic.  Onlinebiker's question is a loaded question (not to mention a false dichotomy).  Why should one ever answer a question phrased as such?

"Open Borders" is racist codespeak for "We don't want latinx people here".   They'll claim not to be anti-immigration, but given every turn they will defend the corrupt system instead of looking for solutions.  Mostly because they don't see the system as a problem, they see it as working just fine.

Someone truly interested in discussing the problems wouldn't merely sit on their thumbs and bring up "Open Borders!" as a response to everything, as if the only choices are:  A. Concentration Camps or B. Open borders

I'll take B every time over A, though.  But then again I'm not a racist.

Well, no. I believe that’s a slippery slope fallacy. We could most certainly work toward immigration law reform with the goal of fairness in mind without “letting everyone out of prison”. As I said, I’m not well-versed on the topic, but let’s keep our reasoning sound.

Honestly? I simply don’t know. I am too ignorant of the details of this particular subject to say with any confidence one way or the other. I wouldn’t be able to support my position. What little I do know, it seems like many of these laws are unfair. Toddlers representing themselves? really? I see your point; why have laws if we won’t enforce them? I also see the other side; why continue to enforce shitty laws? Or, why aren’t we doing anything to improve them? That’s kind of why I’m following this thread. To hopefully learn a bit. But, everyone is just pissing on each other.
