I am not a victim.

No one here is a victim.

If anything has been victimized, it's things like honesty, fairness, clear thought. Little things like that.

Says the victim.

It's not a tacit anything.

It's a clear assertion that the over-the-top statement is over the top. The statement is false, exaggerated, and bigoted.

If 'false, exaggerated and bigoted' statements upset you this much, maybe the Internet isn't the place for you.  I respectfully suggest that you look into the use of placards and sandwich boards in the public square.

And you are the primary perp. I get a little stroppy with dishonest people.

Your interpretation that I'm upset isn't accurate. My blood pressure is fine. I'm having a lovely summer vacation.

I would like to argue against over-the-top statements, on a forum where people argue for or against things. Is this something I shouldn't do?

If bigotry is bad, and something we should oppose, then we should oppose it.

I think religion and theists demonstrate bigotry.

I think religion and theists demonstrate bigotry.

Sometimes they do, most certainly.

And when they do, we should call it out. As when anyone else does, including atheists.

Though not in the absolute sense, but this is true in a lot of cases.

Case in point:

Most of the time they do. And they don't call it out on themselves, not where I live.

How do you measure this? How do you demonstrate that it's true?

"Religion and theists" is a very broad category. Are you including Jains? Pure Land Buddhists? They're not theists exactly, but they are often religious.

Or are you only talking about people near you?

I find it odd that people want to change the subject, back to their own victimization.

Is it not true that atheists can write bigoted sentences? That's the thread topic.

Ok, so this is specifically about what atheists say, not "over the top" remarks in general.
