B) question his somewhat misguided understanding of scripture and question how he could possibly know such incredible things

Why wouldn't God leave traces of the old? Biblically, it took a long time for our lifespans to wind down to less than 130 years. That should leave some genetic traces unless Someone wiped them away...that is, changed the evidence to deceive us.
