How far reaching are God's powers?
RE: How far reaching are God's powers?
Sure, but at least with respect to this issue, it doesn't matter that they aren't.

Outside of the amusing consequences of describing gods any particular way, I don't think that any gods can create universes. Inside, well, it gets even more hilarious.

Before (if it makes sense to say before) a god created all that we see, all of this, there was just god. God would be the entire universe, at least at that point. However, god defined as (or required to be) an uncreated or uncaused thing -or- being could not have created or caused itself...the entire universe at that point..and still a part of the universe thereafter.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

This might help with getting the perception better. I think it's probably the issue.

What issue?

The only issue I'm tackling is whether or not your own chosen description is accurate with respect to whatever it is you have in mind when you say god.

If you mean whatever created everything - could have been a toaster. If you require it to be an entity, or a whoever, or a him, or a he - not so much.

It's always so interesting to be so certain of a being existing that cannot be proven to exist.

The Christian God is defined by mainstream Christianity as being all-knowing, all-loving, all-powerful, and all just. Yet even a cursory reading of the bible reveals a God who is cruel, unjust, tyrannical, unloving and eternally vengeful. Ergo, the Christian God does not exist by reason of self-contradiction.

An omnibenevolent, omnipotent, omniscient God, by definition, cannot create evil or permit evil to exist in the world. And yet, evil exists. Ergo, God, as he is defined by mainstream Christianity, does not exist on the grounds of self-contradiction.

The law of conservation of matter and energy states that the total quantity of energy in the universe remains the same. Matter and energy are interchangeable, but neither can be created or destroyed. Ergo, the universe has always existed and will always exist in one form or another. God is unnecessary by the Principle of Parsimony.

The natural histories of religions are well-documented. The behavioral causes of religions are well-known. There is no evidence that gods and religions are the products of anything other than human ingenuity and imagination. Ergo, atheism is rational and skeptically unassailable.

That was a waste of time.  It made sense, but then went no-where.

It was a ripcord. It didn't have anything to do with the convo, just some video to post and bolt with.

There is a self-contradiction here! Why are you saying that religion is a product of humans, and at the same time, you're blaming God for human actions?

You're using it as an argument only when it serves what you want to believe, and that is exactly the definition of bias. But it's ok, you probably didn't intend to.

Welcome back. You can reasonably assume that atheists don't blame gods for anything.

It's true, those poor gods aren't to blame for the terrible manner in which human authors wrote them. Like Jessica Rabbit said, they're not bad...they're just drawn that way. Take it up with the people who wrote magic book.

That's your opinion! The issue is perception. You lack perception. Your perception is bound to materials, that's probably why you can't understand, and that's why I put that video. Unless if my English is bad.
