I know people who are all over the taste, too, and bragging about how much they can drink of it. I do like some of it, like Stone Brewing's Arrogant Bastard and Double Bastard ales, but while they are hoppy as hell, they aren't as soapy astringent like most IPAs. The wife and I visited one of her friends in Oregon in 2013. I discovered that most places that sell beer don't carry the common stuff like Budweiser, etc. I discovered some nice microbrews there.

Don't drink, kids.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
