Wrong on the facts, as ever.  Sociologists have explicitly studied dogs for exactly this and concluded based on all evidence that there is no dog analog for human gender.

No one said a female can't be the leader, but in instances where social animals have established a particular gender as leader, we don't observe gender fluidity in that position, showing that there is at least some modicum of concept of gender.
