I'm also seeing a lot more businesses hiring, I'm seeing higher wages and I'm seeing people able to make purchases they couldn't otherwise make. Know why there are grocery shortages? Because people are able to buy more groceries than they could a few years ago.
Higher gas prices suck, but maybe that will turn into something good. Last time we had super high gas prices, hybrid cars got more popular. Maybe we'll get more green energy this time.

Things are very bad in the construction buisness. Marterials cost fluxuate between high and absurdly high (lumber and plywood in particular). Bizarre shortages are common (in my case shower receptors come to mind). There's a severe shortage of low skill labor so you pay carpenters to do labor. Lead times are longer and deliveries uncertain. And for some reason documentation is increasingly sloppy...incomplete bids, careless invoicing, etc. YMMV but in my industry...commercial construction, and my 30 years of professional experience...it feels lot worse economically than it has in all the rest of my adult life.

Plenty of milk in the fridge and if all else fails (except the electricity) I have frozen loaves of bread just waiting to be baked.
Last snow, I went to the store for stuff to make chili and produce. The bread aisle was completely bare except for a few loaves of wheat and multigrain. In the freezer section, pizza and hot pockets were near gone. I considered that good indication of who was panic-buying before the storm.
It appears inflation has yet to change overall eating habits.
I don't think anything will change overall eating habits in the US. The rest of us stare in amazement that Americans continue to eat like they have free healthcare.

Wages are up and unemployment is down, but prices are up, and war in Europe is aggravating the inflation. It's a mixed bag, unless you're a Trumpist, in which case it's the worst economy evah!
