They were there to commit violence or cheer the violence on.

There were thousands of people there, but only hundreds attempted to breach the capitol building. They weren't all in on it.

Even the ones who didn't storm the Capital building can't claim ignorance of the violent culture that had festered among the big lie zealots.

I can just imagine the prosecution if someone tries the "I just got caught up in it, I don't know how" defense.

First, after a few months of planning and discussion on your public facebook group..you rented a car and drove hundreds of miles to attend a rally to stop the steal. Then, while you were attending that rally, you entered the premises at exactly x o clock, x minutes before you took a shit on a staffers desk. Jog your memory?

There's also the fact that in both 2016 and 2020, Trump was poisoning the well with stolen-election rhetoric long before election night, yet somehow he gets a pass on that, from some folk. Who they choose to criticize says a lot about them.

And, ironically, IA’s attempt at drawing a parallel between the Dems and the Republicans only manages to demonstrate how different their reactions are. They talk about conspiracies, but they do what they can to make sure if it’s true instead of just taking whatever their Dear Leader claims as Gospel. If they think the laws governing the election are unfair, they don’t invade Congress. They do what (admittedly little) they can to try and change the laws, often by targeting voting restrictions that (in practice) tends to disenfranchise people, particularly minorities. And let’s hope that enough states enact the NPVIC in the next couple years to render the Electoral College obsolete, so that no other candidate can win the Presidency despite having 3 million fewer votes than their opponent.

And once it becomes clear that, regardless of whatever efforts they may take, the other guy’s coming into office, they accept that fact and move on to opposing his agenda and making this president’s first term his last.

Hitlery seemed to know quite a bit about who trump was that most people are..apparently. only figuring out now. A treasonous shitweasel who'd set fire to the country so that he could claim to save it in an effort to advance his profligate grift - up to and including overthrowing it's government.
