I get all that, but I'll note that loud voices are easier to deal with..with grandpappys squirrel gun...than drones are.
The guns aren't for the government, tyrannical or not.....they're for you.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

No, guns are for profiting off of fear and death. Firearm CEOs love the violence, because if you have not noticed, there is always an uptick in panic buying after the sane rightfully shout "DO SOMETHING". The obsessive slavish worshipers of an object do not have the common sense our allies do when events like this happen in their countries. When there is too much firearm violence, they put their foot down on access, and their societies do not see that as a gun grab, but a call to the common welfare and safety of all.
If firearm makers truly cared about where their products end up, they would not obstruct every safety measure that does get passed. Some people on the left are touting this new "bipartisanship" as a long time needed breakthrough. I don't trust the GOP at all on this fake compromise. They will do the same fucking thing they did after passing the Brady Bill and pass future laws neutering it making it basically useless. They would do the same fucking thing if an assault weapons ban was passed. They undid that bill back in the 90s too.
The only goal of the companies and the GOP is to prey on fear and death and profit off of fear and death. Saying guns are for "you" is a useful lie they sell everyone to keep and maintain or expand their market.

You may have misread, I don't mean that they're for you, like a present......lol. I mean that the point of the toy guns (and panic buying toy guns particularly) is for shooting you and other civilians. An imagined dystopia where they wander their subdivisions executing neighbors over a can of baked beans and vienna sausages, or less. The firearm industry is quite happy to play along and fuel this paranoia. If you look at the history of their advertising it's actually pretty difficult to figure out who was wagging who - the politicians or the marketers - but..as I've commented on before...they see the domestic market as just about spent. They're working hard to export their weapons to warzones..and since I first brought this to your attention they've gotten every concession they've asked for in an incrementalist campaign to remove all restrictions to that end.
Call me old fashioned, but I think that the only people who ought to be trying to get piles of guns into the hands of foreign militants would be the armed forces. As it stands, firearms manufacturers have to break that market well and truly open because domestic panic buying sprees do not make for a sustainable business model going forward, and they know it. I think they may have fucked the pooch on any ability to pivot and cater to the other side of the divide they created/exploited. How could they market a sporting rifle to you now, after all the shit of these past many years?
I think, in the fullness of time, this whole episode will end up as a case example in business schools of an industry with an exceptional product...that completely fucked itself for no good reason. The same will probably be said of gun ownership in the us.

Let's go over all the things that don't cause mass shootings
Mental Illness- There are mentally ill people all over the world in nations with equally shitty or worst mental healthcare and yet there are no mass shootings. Now, why is that?
Violent Video Games- Japan has more why isn't it filled with mass-murdering psychos.
Porn-Porn exists in countless countries no mass shootings.
Weed-Why isn't the Netherlands a violent hellhole.
Abortion- Legal in most of the western world. So where are all the mass shootings elsewhere?
Anti-psychotic meds- Yet somehow mental illness is the cause of mass shootings......?
No forced prayers in school-Is Iceland a hotbed for mass killings?
Metal Music - Norway. Where are all the mass shootings?
Hmmm, I wonder what could be the cause?

Next time a gun nut tells you mass shootings are a people problem or a bad person problem remind them there are people all over the world and not all of them are good and yet for some reason, only people in the US are committing mass shootings
I wonder why?

Here is a brand new lullaby a gun cultist parent can sing to their scared AR-15 as it goes to sleep at night dreaming of all the slaughter it will commit in the days and weeks to come. AND DONT stupidly falsely accuse me of claiming a non living object can act on its own. I FUCKING KNOW THAT. But if you have a selfish "I want one because I want one" attitude that will affect how you use it and let others think they can handle it when they might not be able to. If you want to claim it is not the guns, fine, BUT IT IS YOUR FUCKING ATTIDUE about ignoring our flooded market and ease of access.
The Firearm's Lullaby, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/Meta and @brianrrs37 on twitter)
Hush little 15, don't you cry
Momma's gonna sell a big fat lie
And if that fat lie don't sell
I'll pull out another
To see if it works as well
Hush little "no record at time of buy"
Momma's going to blame everything in the sky
It's the video games and mentally ill
It's not the flooded market that they sell
Hush little gun cultist, don't you fear
There's a gas lit liberal right near
They want to oppress you
But that's not really true
I'm simply selfish and lying to you
I need your money
You gullible fool
To put my power
Over the right thing to do
Hush little factory
We've got your back
We'll protect blind immunity
No other industry gets
Hush little morgue
Don't you cry
Of dead bodies
There'll be plenty of supply
