Is Trump going to Prison?

RE: Is Trump going to Prison?
I also think there will be a few "local" breakouts of serious further insurrection ... I could be wrong, as the jail sentences of the Jan 6 criminals may have
brought them to understand they will be charged and jailed ... but I am not sure about that. The trials in the months to come may tell the story.

Considering that the court system has become a place to subvert justice rather than find it, it's an unlikely possibility.

Well, at least if he is convicted on at least one charge, Trump can be barred from running for president.

That depends. If the charge is insurrection, sedition, or treason, you are correct. No other crimes carry that ban, to my knowledge.

He doesn't have to be "convicted" of any crime to be banned from the presidency. The amendment says nothing about conviction. If he gave aid and comfort to those planning an insurrection, he can't seek the presidency. It's a matter the SCOTUS will deal with, next year, before the election. I doubt he will spend much time in an actual prison. It would be a nightmare for the Secret Service. But I think a clever judge could (just as one could now, for running his mouth about a judge or Jack Smith) sentence him to a few days or even 24 hours in an actual jail, just for appearances sake. Trump is such an oblivious baby 24 hours in a jail would traumatize him for life.

if trump and his close associates do not have all their political rights revoked for life, then The long term impact of trump’s insurrection on american governance and political stability would be the same as if they had never been punished at all for it, and insurrection will be perceived as a viable and potentially extremely effective way of advancing political agenda in the american political system, and we will likely see presidential or other national elections outcomes overtly subverted through blantant fraud and violence as the norm rather than exception, probably within 2 4 year election cycles .

in the end only those elections whose outcome does not affect any significant power balance pertaining to issues of concern to large lobbies will remain uncontested by violence or fraud, until, eventually even election itself will lose de jure significance as it has lost de facto significance.

if the personal cost to leaders and beneficiaries of insurrection isn’t immeasurably greater than political, and by extension personal, advantage to be gained through successful insurrection, then no moralizing will prevent insurrection from being seen as a logical abs indispensable political tool.

Sure, he need not be convicted, but you, me, and Mother Theresa know he will sue on the basis of "no conviction" ... to be argued eventually to a SCOTUS with three of his own nominees sitting in judgement (along with Alito and Thomas). As a result, I think his disbarment from office will require a conviction on one of the three named charges.

What Trump has to do is defend himself from the growing numbers of similar cases filed in the states to keep him off the ballots.
