Quote:The wife of an investor has launched a GoFundMe to help fund former President Trump’s mounting legal expenses in the wake of Friday’s verdict in the New York fraud case.

The GoFundMe has a goal of $355 million — the amount that Judge Arthur Engoron ordered Trump to pay nearly in penalties in a civil fraud case. As of Saturday night, the GoFundMe had already raised over $185,000 with more than 4,000 donors.

With interest, Trump and his business could pay more than $450 million, according to the New York attorney general’s office.

The online fundraiser was started by Elena Cardone, the wife of investor Grant Cardone, an entrepreneur and investor.

A good number of Trump's GoFundMe donators have the mindset of "I don't want my money going to communist, facist, marxist, socialist programs like health care." Have zero issues bailing out a "billionaire" swindling fraud like trump.

It amazes me that a creature that put itself on the moon, and developed technological marvels like James Webb Telescope, can have these intellectually inept imbeciles employing the exact same device that led to the aforementioned accomplishments.

To me, getting money to pay for someone else’s bail or fine like what Trump has now should be illegal. It should be Trump’s responsibility to pay for this, not anyone else’s, including these guys trying to bail Trump out. What Trump did was bad, anyway, so while his supporters are crazy, there should be no reason at all to support a bad guy like Trump.

Right wing media has been brainwashing them with those kinds of talking points for decades; it's pretty firmly ingrained in them by now.  As much as it makes sense to not donate more money to a billionaire millionaire, that's logical thinking and they've been conditioned to think emotionally.

I don't know how much this went on before (mostly because I didn't pay them that much attention), but since right after 9/11, right wing media like Faux News have been encouraging an emotional response in their audience and that was more important than reporting the facts.  So, for example, it wasn't enough to report that terrorists flew planes into the twin towers; they had to make their audience think that terrorists were flying planes and coming for them and they were about to crash into the side of their house and only the republican candidate could prevent it.  Now they're using similar fear tactics with socialism and communism (and critical race theory, and anything "woke" and transgender people).

Thing is, fear like that isn't logical.  It isn't our first reaction to think through your fear and analyzing it away through reason; our first, instinctual reaction is fight or flight.  Similar reaction with anger.  The small, primitive, reptilian part of our brains that don't use rational thought are still there and there are malicious people out there who are more than willing to use it against our own best interests.

And to Trump's credit, one thing he's very good at is repeating the talking points from right wing media.  He's been watching them for a very long time, he knows how to talk like them, he knows how to encourage the same kind of unthinking fear and anger that they do.

So, yeah, republicans make us so terrified of socialism that their sheep will gladly donate all their money to a snake oil salesman because he's the only thing that they think can fight it.

Wanna know something odd? Well, if you don't know what the Red Scare is, that is the belief in the form of spread fear that socialism, or communism, will replace the a non-communist state or government; possibly through overthrowing that state or government; which is something that is prevalent in the United States. That said, Trump is kinda like that. He did try to overthrow the government by ending democracy as we know it through the January 6 insurrection. And he did say he would be a dictator on "day one" if he was elected again for president. Plus, many news reporters have reported that Trump being president again would end democracy as we know it. Even if he is not completely socialist, he is, to me, like the Red Scare that is about fear of socialists trying to replace the government.

Which leads to this: It's ironic. Some people are brainwashed into fearing socialism and communism, but they are also brainwashed into supporting a president who is more like the Red Scare that has to do with socialism and communism, even if it is not in a complete way.

This strategy isn’t what it once was. Voters today are less afraid of the socialism boogeyman than they once were. This is especially true among minorities and younger voters, two demographics that Trump desperately needs.
