I wonder if the same people who blamed the Sikh murders on the murderer's (religious) ideology will blame these shootings on the shooter's (political) ideology.
And yes, if I had to guess I'd say that people on here wouldn't care much about a victim if the victim had the 'wrong' beliefs/opinions.
Well, the victim in this case was a security guard for a conservative group. I already stated that it was horrible. I would venture to guess that most people here care about other people in general, which is why you will find that the bulk of atheists here oppose the death penalty.

I don't think anyone here is claiming otherwise. I mean the guy did kinda come out & say it before he shot the guard. You did read the story, right?
Oh, this was just a lame attempt to be divisive. Right.

What he's saying is that 6 Sikh's being killed is the same crime as shooting one christian, in the arm.

Oh, quit being an asshole. No one here has ever advocated that a victim of violence is less of a victim if they hold different beliefs, and I dare you to find an example. Violence is deplorable no matter who the victim is, and you suggesting that people here would feel otherwise is both innappropriate and deplorable.

As I originally suspected when this news story first broke, this was a politically motivated shooting by a lone disturbed hatefilled individual who in this instance just happened to be a gay activist. No doubt this guy was incited by the inflammatory rhetoric and threats that spewed from Mayors Rahm Emmanuel and Tom Menino over comments that were made by Chick-fil-A's CEO Dan Cathy supporting traditional marriage. In response to the Mayors' threats to ban the restaurant from Chicago and Boston, supporters of traditional marriage and free speech packed out Chick-fil-A's nationwide to show their support. Tony Perkins, President of the 'Family Research Council', also publically voiced his support for Cathy which further inflamed the rhetoric from the left. The FRC is also a lobbying group for traditional marriage. In 2010 the 'SPLC' became the focus of a controversy when they listed 'FRC' a hate group. The gunman in this incident became incensed over all the shreiks and shrills surrounding this that he decided he was going shoot up the 'Family Research Council' building. Fortunately, one brave security guard and a couple others were able to tackle the guy before he was able to kill anyone. I also think that the 'Southern Poverty Law Center' should be the focus of close scrutiny over their own intolerance and bigotry which seems to contribute to the hateful shrills from the left.

What inflammatory rhetoric are you referring to? As far as I was aware, they simply said the Chick-fil-a couldn't build a store in their city. Also, what makes you think that the gunmen was influenced by this rhetoric.

Actual victim.
Fucking intellectual honesty. It's exhausting. To be fair, you've just posted the photo of an abortion doctor victim who was known for providing late-term abortions. 17-week old fetuses can be aborted in some states, and I'm pretty sure Dr Tiller aborted fetuses older than 17 weeks as well.

Oh, I bet you care about people "in general". I suspect that once you know certain facts about a person--say, if they're a Christian, and conservative--you care less about bad things that happen to them.

Let's get this back on track. Shooting people who have different viewpoints from you is bad, period. Can we try not to do it, pretty please?

I didn't say that anyone here has ever advocated that a victim of violence is less of a victim if they hold different beliefs.
But the evidence I've seen--"I could care less about republicunts", "Nail some sense into them"--supports a hypothesis of "doesn't care so much about conservative Christians" more than it supports a hypothesis of "cares just as much about conservative Christians".
