God Loves Me, Too

RE: God Loves Me, Too
See what "theological study" gets you? Has it ever occurred to you that the nastiness of some members of this board has been brought about by religious faith? Specifically the religious faith that leads religious shitwits here to tell certain members about how nasty they are- and how their holy book saw it all coming?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

This started with the idea that the biblical ban on premarital sex could put sexually incompatible people together from the start. Your scenario is the opposite, and doesn't involve Biblical restrictions. We can discuss the situation as a side issue if you're just interested in the subject.
Quote:People do grow and change over time and couples don't always grow together, sometimes they grow apart. People grow and change sexually as well.
Yes, and this was one of my arguments. Even if you determine you're compatible through premarital sex, it's unlikely you'll both stay as you are for the rest of your lives, particularly if you have children. Biblically or not, you'll need to work on maintaining compatibility and satisfaction.
Quote:In keeping with the sexiness of the thread: I know many couples that have had sexual incompatibility issues post-kids. It's difficult to switch from mommy or daddy mode, to sexy-time mode. A woman's hormone changes post-kids can change her libido. A man can find a post-baby body unappealing. Amongst other things. If left unresolved, these sexual issues can ruin a marriage.
Yep. Personally, I think resolving them - or better yet not letting them get too bad in the first place - is the proper response, while leaving and looking for a new, more compatible partner would be a selfish response.

Sexual incompatibility can be something a couple starts out with or something that develops. I think it's better to find out if you are initially compatible to begin with, because even compatible couples can become out of sync. Wouldn't it suck to wait until you're married to find out you and your spouse are incompatible and never feel sexually fulfilled? I think it would. If we're talking virgins getting married, perhaps they'd never know what they're missing... That's even more depressing...

Why? If you value the marriage bond above all other things, would this particular form of ignorance be a good thing?

Well, at least now you're admitting it's simply opinion, but can you see how that opinion would be insulting to non-believers? You speak of nastiness on AF, but how many members have told you that you are a bad person and deserve to rot in hell for having different beliefs? I'm entirely confused at how you can criticize the nastiness you see here, yet think it's perfectly reasonable to believe that others will go to hell for not having the same beliefs.

To me, it appears that you suffer from the same condition that creates the nastiness here, only you have disguised it and justify it by calling it religious beliefs.

As noted earlier in the thread, if you're communicating you'll likely develop sexual compatibility.

Whiskey tango foxtrot, why don't you think people can develop together sexually as a married couple?

Because sex is awesome. Because orgasms are awesome. I couldn't imagine never having good sex, and not even knowing I was having mediocre/bad sex and thinking that was as good as it gets... I definitely think this is different for women than for men.

I guess because I don't see myself making extremely crude personal attacks and if I certainly haven't made a habit of it. Yes, I believe that atheists that die in their disbelief will go to Hell. I also believe that believers that do not act on their faith can also go to Hell. But everyone participating on AF is still alive, and presumably still rational. No one deserves to go to Hell, but if you deny God up until your dying day, then you will suffer in the afterlife. Just because we believe it doesn't mean we rejoice in it.

Nah. I don't think so.

And besides, the concept of heaven and hell seems just too much like the concept of utopia and dystopia, because frankly Chad, I don't think I could stand an hour in your heaven Smile
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
