RE: Twenty questions for atheists
Quote:1.Why are you atheist ?

Tis just the way my brain works... you know, it actually works.

Quote:2.How are you became atheist ?

I have always been an atheist.

Quote:3.Where are you from ?

Dundee, Scotland.

Quote:4.How old are you ?

I'll be 22 in less than a month, so I'll say 22. Tongue

Quote:5.Do you believe in the afterlife (some atheist than I know believe to the afterlife) ? If no , can you explain why ?

Nope... I don't see any reason to believe that there is life after death. It just seems like an absurd idea to think that there is one.

Quote:6.Did you read all the Bible ? If you read all the bible what biblical canon (catholic , orthodox , protestant etc...) ?

Aye... can't remember what one it was... it was just the bible we had in the house at the time. It was shite anyway.

Quote:7.Did you read all the Quran ? (Yes I know that for Muslims if you read a translation you don't read the Koran).

Nope.

Quote:8.Did you read an other religious text ? If yes what is it or what are they ?

I've read tons of stuff on Norse, Greek and Egyptian religions. Far more interesting than anything cutting about today. Wink

Quote:9.What are yours hobbies ?

Writing music, drawing manga, watching anime, getting stoned, watching and collecting zombie films...

Quote:10.Can you define the goal of the life ?

I don't have any goal in life. I just plan to live...

Quote:11.Sometimes do you think ? I will go in Hell if god does exist.

Nope.

Quote:12.Sometimes do you think that God does exist maybe ?

Nope.

Quote:13.What do you think about people who believe in monotheistic religions ?

I judge them... but no more than I judge every other filthy human.

Quote:14.What do you think about people who believe in polytheistic religions ?

Same as above...

Quote:15.What do you think about people who believe in a religion where there are not god(s) ?

Well, slightly more reasonable than the opposite, but I can find something else to judge them about.

Quote:16.Do you have an interest about philosophy to have answers about the life ? Can you explain why ?

Nope. Studied philosophy for a while... most of it is completely pointless.

Quote:17.Do you fear to dead ? (I speak in a metaphysical context and about your friends , family etc...).

Hmm, not sure what you mean. I don't fear the dead, because I have taken all necessary precautions for when the zombies come. Wink

Quote:18.Do you like your life ? If you like your life , why do you like your life. If you don't like your life I would like to know the reason.

Yeah, I do. I can't explain why, I just do. I'm poor as shit, but I have friends. My nakama get me through life pain free.

Quote:19.Do you dream to live in a world where there are not place for the religions ? If yes or no explain please.

Erm, I suppose it would be nice, but I hardly dream of such a thing. I dream of things like being a pirate!

Quote:20.Do you think that politic is like religion ? Explain why this is not equal or not.

It is only like religion in that it is run by a bunch of minted liars.

Really?

Quote:According to a recent survey carried out by the makers of the new alien-shoot 'em up video game 'XCOM: Enemy Unknown', an estimated 33.1 million inhabitants in the UK believe that life exists on other planets, while only 27.5 million - less than half the country - believe there is a God.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

RE: Twenty questions for atheists
Okay, I'll play this game...

1.Why are you atheist ?
Because any argument for god has failed to meet the burden of proof.

2.How are you became atheist ?
I realized there was no evidence for god, but plenty of evidence that humans make up stories to fill gaps in knowledge.

3.Where are you from ?
Michigan, U.S.A.

4.How old are you ?
33

5.Do you believe in the afterlife (some atheist than I know believe to the afterlife) ? If no , can you explain why ?
No, because I believe the soul is another example of humans inventing stories to fill gaps in knowledge

6.Did you read all the Bible ? If you read all the bible what biblical canon (catholic , orthodox , protestant etc...) ?
No, just Revelations

7.Did you read all the Quran ? (Yes I know that for Muslims if you read a translation you don't read the Koran).
No.

8.Did you read an other religious text ? If yes what is it or what are they ?
No.

9.What are yours hobbies ?
Reading and writing

10.Can you define the goal of the life ?
I see no goal for life itself, but the goal of my life is to be a good father.

11.Sometimes do you think ? I will go in Hell if god does exist.
Sure.

12.Sometimes do you think that God does exist maybe ?
Yours? No. Sometimes I do wonder whether a deist god exists or not.

13.What do you think about people who believe in monotheistic religions ?
I think they would rather be comforted by a lie than face a harsh truth.

14.What do you think about people who believe in polytheistic religions ?
See #13.

15.What do you think about people who believe in a religion where there are not god(s) ?
I think they're just looking for guidance in this chaotic, indifferent universe.

16.Do you have an interest about philosophy to have answers about the life ? Can you explain why ?
If you mean trying to understand the purpose of life? I'm more interested in trying to determine if there is a purpose first.

17.Do you fear to dead ? (I speak in a metaphysical context and about your friends , family etc...).
No.

18.Do you like your life ? If you like your life , why do you like your life. If you don't like your life I would like to know the reason.
Yes, because I have found emotional balance and peace.

19.Do you dream to live in a world where there are not place for the religions ? If yes or no explain please.
Yes, because that would mean there is world with no gaps for god to hide in.

20.Do you think that politic is like religion ? Explain why this is not equal or not.
I think humans use both to control people.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Why are they authentic ?

1.Each Atheist represent himself or herself. Because an Atheist don't represent a community. Yes there are an Atheist community or Atheist communities but each person are individual like the Atheism is not a dogma.
2.The Atheists on this Forum are anti-conformists like the majority are from an Anglo-Saxon country (USA , UK etc...) where the majority of people believe in God.
3.Each Atheists have a personal conception about the goal of the life.
Well, I'm so glad you approve. Rolleyes

Quote:2.How are you became atheist ?
I grew out of the lies told to me as a kid

Quote:3.Where are you from ?
Portugal.

Quote:4.How old are you ?
32

Quote:5.Do you believe in the afterlife (some atheist than I know believe to the afterlife) ? If no , can you explain why ?
No, because there is plenty of evidence provided by science that say that consciousness is a product of a living material brain. Once that stops working, the same happens to your consciousness. As to afterlife or non material based consciousness, those that propose it fail at every turn to provide evidence for that,

Quote:6.Did you read all the Bible ? If you read all the bible what biblical canon (catholic , orthodox , protestant etc...) ?
I read the Portuguese Catholic version but I rather dislike poorly written novels.

Quote:7.Did you read all the Quran ? (Yes I know that for Muslims if you read a translation you don't read the Koran).
No, but one badly written novel is quite enough for me.

Quote:8.Did you read an other religious text ? If yes what is it or what are they ?
Nope.

Quote:9.What are yours hobbies ?
Oh, so many, Computer programming, constrution jobs around the house, chemistry, playing with the dog, reading books, playing cards and many others I don't recall right now...

Quote:10.Can you define the goal of the life ?
Live and let live. Try not to be an ass. Enjoy this amazing world untill my body fails.

Quote:11.Sometimes do you think ? I will go in Hell if god does exist.
Nah, I don't believe such a place is possible to exist. If it did, I'd be in good company Big Grin

Quote:12.Sometimes do you think that God does exist maybe ?
Nope.

Quote:13.What do you think about people who believe in monotheistic religions ?
That they believe in something without reason.

Quote:14.What do you think about people who believe in polytheistic religions ?
See above.

Quote:15.What do you think about people who believe in a religion where there are not god(s) ?
Still attached to dogma.

Quote:16.Do you have an interest about philosophy to have answers about the life ? Can you explain why ?
Philos = friend, Sophos = Knowledge. It isn't an excuse for many people to reinforce their already pre-existent beliefs.

Quote:17.Do you fear to dead ? (I speak in a metaphysical context and about your friends , family etc...).
I'm not afraid of dying, I just don't want to, as to my close ones, I don't want to lose them.

Quote:18.Do you like your life ? If you like your life , why do you like your life. If you don't like your life I would like to know the reason.
I am content with my life, it could be better, but it could also be worse. But even bad things are better to be experienced than not living at all.

Quote:19.Do you dream to live in a world where there are not place for the religions ? If yes or no explain please.
No, but I would like for religions to not pave the way for bad people to do bad things.

Quote:20.Do you think that politic is like religion ? Explain why this is not equal or not.
It has its similarities, but I don't really care much for politics anyway.
