Of course the protest isn't going to have any effect. Why should that mean they shouldn't have their protest? Are they planning to be violent in this protest? I'm far more concerned about the EDL when they protest.

They can protest all they want, but protesting for something as stupid as silencing speech that they don't care for is just a waste of energy.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Yeah, giving up freedom of speech for any reason is idiotic. They have every right to protest over stupid shit if they want, but what they are demanding is unreasonable.

It is unreasonable. That's why it won't make any difference to the law. It's also unreasonable for the EDL to demand we kick out all of our Muslim residents and their children, but they protest all the fricking time, with far more people.

I think they're still worried about the elusive Muslamic Ray Guns.

Here's the thing. In most developed nations, we have a little thing called "Freedom of Speech." However, what these people are campaigning for is, in essence, "Freedom from Other People's speech." In essence, most developed nations don't have that sort of thing for obvious reasons. It really stifles free expression.
In essence, the situation here is that these Muslims do have the right to protest, even if it's for the most inane things, and, if it is for the most inane things, then we as human beings reserve the right to criticise them mercilessly for that. That's how free speech works. We shouldn't really be worried unless people in charge actually start listening to that. Because, if they do, who knows how far it could go?

If UK government forbid to criticise Islam it must forbid to criticise Christianity and others religions therefore these Muslims are dreaming.

Then you disagree with the demands of the protesters, who want free speech to be curtailed in England?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
