Lack of viable historical accounts. What's your proof that it did happen?

The scriptures, just because you dislike them does not mean they do not tell us the facts of Christ. How many people did the Romans crucify, is there any historical records of each of them.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Scripture is not proof that what happened in the bible is true. That would be circular logic. I know what is in the bible is true because the bible tells me so is illogical.

What about the rest of us? What about us poor blighted fools who are held back from belief by their inability to square this concept with a benevolent god? Why not share your knowledge, if you do have an answer that you think has some pepper to it?

The same, I've yet to find any nonbeliever who was truly interested in learning, most have the purpose of goating out of Christians things they want to ridicule our beliefs.

I know evolution is true because the science books tell me it is.

When any theist has something of actual value to teach in regards to the existence of god being true, then we will listen. As it is now, the only thing any theist provides is a cop out by stating, You must have faith and believe everything in the bible without questioning it. Forget reason, because it is useless..

There is more than a mere science book to prove that evolution hinges on fact. Science has an entire field dedicated to learning about the world and life. What does religion have? One single book that cannot be trusted for numerous reasons that have been mentioned time and time again.

If the only 'evidence' of evolution came out of books written thousands of years ago, none of us would accept it as true. It's cool that the people who write the books on evolution can also demonstrate the truth of evolution outside of the books (with the bonus that seeing the evidence does not first require us believing it is true beforehand).

The reason why is because God said so. Are you asking what Christ's death means?

If yes the death of Christ is the physical manifestation of the pain and suffering the God under went to forgive us of our sins. As we can not comprehend true deep Spiritual pain, God illustrated it for us in a way the we could grasp on the cross (which at the time was the absolute worst way to die)

Now that we can grasp the sacrifice God underwent we have been to simply accept it, if we want to be covered under the attonement offered.

Did you miss the part where I said "viable" and "historical"? It's not that I "dislike" the scriptures, it's just that everybody and their mother acknowledges that they're not exactly trustworthy in terms of being an historical account.

I'm intrigued GC, how do you deal with the complete lack of historical evidence for your god boy?

Do you just stick your fingers in your ears and go "la la la" until the naughty thoughts go away?

Or do you smash yourself repeatedly in the face with a bible until unconscious?

Either way it is blindingly obvious that you refuse to register that the scripture are historically worthless and of no import here.

BTW, the scriptures are the claim, not the evidence.

Not agreeing with you is not the same thing as being unwilling to learn.

I submit to you that the way to stop bein ridiculed is to stop saying ridiculous things.

Quote:I know evolution is true because the science books tell me it is.

Like this, for instance. Because, you know what? I don't have to just take the words of a biology textbook at face value, in order to know the truth. I can look up countless peer reviewed studies, I can watch the process occur via video and pictures over many generations, I can even see the bones of dead creatures charting an evolutionary lineage. I can look at the similarities in the genome, and best of all, I can replicate the process if I wanted, using bacterial cultures or hell, even some breeding dogs if I wanted to. There's a whole assload of cross confirmatory data.

You don't get to pretend that the process of science is on the same level as your excuse that "my book says the truth because I believe it, because it tells me it says the truth." And you know this stuff; you'd have to, if you've been on here more than a few weeks. None of us here are terribly shy about posting proof of evolution; I can only conclude that you were being dishonest there.
