No no, we have to halves of a whole brain: it's not a fun experience, losing that connection. The connective tissue is a part of the brain in its own right; it's only a link in the sense that it's physically located in the bridge between the two hemispheres. You know, like how the pillars that support a bridge are a part of the bridge too?

Wow, that is... absolutely not what's going on here. This isn't cellular division, Sword. If I break a car in half, I don't have two cars, I have two halves of one car. And if consciousness wasn't a part of the brain, why would it do that at all?

In practice we have two brains (it's like a dual processor) and they are connected together as depicted here.

It's possible for someone to function perfectly well with only one, the plasticity of the remain hemisphere will compensate and take over the missing hemispheres functionality. Though as an adult you lose that plasticity and become hardwired.





I would see the brain as a filter for consciousness which fits well enough with what we physically observe. If someone has two separate brains it's possible for each brain to come to it's own differing opinions on say the subject of Gods existence. Depending on which brain you ask you may well get a different answer.

The point doesn't apply to me as I'm not saying atheists are going to hell. There is a risk of it for anyone who isn't accepting God grace through Christ.

If someone has brain damage or a mental illness or whatever that prevents them from fully accepting Gods grace and they seriously would need it they may get a chance to repent after they're dead. Death doesn't have to be the cut-off point for acceptance that isn't written anywhere.

The assumption that there is a god and heaven and hell and all the shenanigans...
And then, things happen.

We don't take that route.
Assume only the physical observable and testable exists... and then... if something else comes along, we'll look into it.
Nothing else has come along, yet...
Some people make claims about metaphysical phenomena... none pans out...

Claims about what happens after death are nothing more than wishful thinking. Keep them to yourself, please. No one cares.

I have seen a 7 year old boy that by listening the noise from the engine could tell what was wrong with the car.
Oh, and what about some famous musician that were giving concert at a very young age.
Did they have enough time to learn from books or in any other way?
Of course not. They just carry the experiences made in previous lives.

From here you can understand what is more or less important and more or less higher.

Except that I was addressing your desperate need to hold onto the idea that the mind is some extra, spiritual thing not connected to the brain, in spite of evidence to the contrary. I don't care about your claims of heaven or hell because, until you can show me anything other than old books and insipid personal feelings to verify them, I have no reason to believe they're there, any more than I would believe in the soul based on the fact that you can't divide things properly.

All of the available evidence suggests that we do not persist after our death. Your claim is the one that flies in the face of the available science, and therefore you're the one who has to justify it.
