What denominations do they tend to be, or is it just individuals who think the "real meaning" of Christmas is being lost?

Not so much that they think its being lost, more that they think what we do at Christmas has piss all to do with Christianity.

Well, most of it doesn't and never has, so they shouldn't be worried.

Exactly! One bunch outraged that they shoehorned God IN to Christmas, and the other half outraged that they're trying to take him OUT.
Not sure who the ubiquitous "they" are in this context. But I am coming to the conclusion that the outrage is more important to some folks than what stimulates it.

A Jewish colleague once confided to me that she got tired of all the Christmas trappings, that people forget that not everyone is part of that. I told her as a nonreligious person it all made me feel alienated. When she invited me to her son's bar mitzvah, I told her it would just be one more occasion for me to feel like a martian so thanks but no thanks.
Nonetheless I was raised with Christmas and like a lot of the music. We have family to dinner, do stockings, make persimmon pudding. But I am ambivalent and don't send cards. I don't mind if someone wishes me merry Christmas or such like. I just respond with a generic happy holidays regardless.

Too much spectacle and not enough quiet contemplation. And really, Easter should be the premier Christian holiday since it marks the most important aspect of the religion.

Easter is the premier holiday for Christians and is celebrated much, much more reverently than Christmas.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

That's what I've believed for so long, but I guess Easter isn't celebrated as big as Christmas is because there's no pretense to exchange presents and commercialize the entire holiday for two or three months prior.
