People are enslaved by the darkness of their own minds. The means by which they hide from enlightenment varies by culture and temperament. Indeed some use religion but any unexamined ideology will do.

Oh fuck off, Chad, you just consider everybody but you to be enslaved. As if becoming a Swedenborgian zombie was some divine ticket that fell in your lap. It has nothing to do with "examined" or not, as you readily demonstrate by being an incompetent and unethical, if well read, religious jerkoff.

Ironically, ChadWooters is correct in a sense. By his own definition he is enslaved by his 'lack of enlightenment' and the fact that he ignores what is in front of him in order to continue believing his particular brand of religion and its attached dogmatic intolerance.
I have witnessed him react angrily and aggressive when someone has started to examine and question his ideology, and most of us here can see him as almost a copy of Sleepy and Nineteen (just different specific beliefs).
The lack of any evidence to support his, or any other, religion gets in the way of his world view and objective so he ignores this fact. The only way out is to accept the irrationality of his belief, which would probably entail him no longer holding the belief. This is how he defines himself, so it probably isn't going to happen. Thus, he will continue just how he is.
C'est la vie.

You did say who's.
"Religion is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy."

Well, if you were on the atheists' side, or talking about religion from their point of view, then that makes your post misleading to everyone because you presented it as your point of view (on religion). You even started the post by saying "I was going to post this in the section about banning the burka, but thought it actually had broader application." So, according to that sentence, it was clearly you who "thought" that, not anyone else.
Again, is the quote in your OP the atheists' point of view on religion or your own point of view? I asked you this earlier but you didn't answer that.

May peace and blessing be onto you. The brother here said religion is our enemy, and yet he may like it! What's the problem with that? Heroin is our enemy, and yet we all like it! When you shoot it in combination with dopamine re-uptake inhibitors, it makes you feel really well but then it makes you dumb and insensitive to social issues, eg. like homosexuality. And it may also kill you, like, Jihad warriors have proven many times: Heroin can kill you, religion can also kill you.
Karl Marx said: " Religion is the opium of the people." What people? The people who choose to follow it. Like those who choose to follow the needle. So good it feels, to have that warmth fill your body when you smell that aroma of prayer. And yet, is it deception, or is it truth? Is it your friend or your enemy?
The brother may well like it, and yet, it may still be bad for the brother. That's what we're debating. The brother's inconsistency is a matter of opinion.

I agree that his inconsistency might be a matter of opinion.
It just looks pretty shady to me the way that he wrote the post so as to make members think that he himself views religion that way (i.e. as a matrix that we should "free" ourselves from and not to be "mind slaves" of it), only to later say that he actually likes staying in this matrix and that he finds bliss in religion ... as opposed to wanting to free himself from the matrix ... thereby contradicting what he just said earlier.
And now he's acting like he is confused by telling me "well on some days I really don't know which side I'm on." I don't take seriously someone who wavers back and forth so much about what he believes. I even have a suspicion that he might have been trolling us (quite cleverly), but, of course, I could be wrong about that also.

Okay, Jacob. Come out with your hands up. Just want to ask you a few questions. Whose side are you on .. and when did you know it?
