PERSONAL arguments, mind you, not between "professional" debaters. I'm interested in seeing the extent of stupidity that exists amongst the religious. Mostly because I could seriously use a good, hearty belly-laugh.

Okay, I'm going to try to do what you said in that post to do again.

It is indeed a challenge. Perhaps the biggest challenge I have ever had.

1. Theism is true because I want it to be true.
2. Theism is true because I emotionally want it to be true.

Okay, now I'm going to try to be specific for this last one.

Basically, in order to accomplish what I mean to do, I have to answer the question, "What is the dumbest fucking thing anyone has ever said to me about religion?"

Nope, too many dumb things that are incredibly dumb, I cannot pick one.

Why would somebody want something to be true other than for personal gain or emotional reason? Personal gain is also emotional.

No fucking clue. But these are both arguments I have heard OVER AND OVER AGAIN and to the people who have said either of these things, these two things seem to be different.

1. The Quran is full of scientifically sound facts.
2. The Bible is full of scientifically sound facts.

Wow, this is the first thing in the thread that I don't think I have heard before. Sorry that you have.

I listened to the debate with Aron Ra and Ray Comfort on Youtube, and a guy kept picking arguments with me under the comments bar. He gave me a bunch of links to Christian "scientists'" articles supposedly proving the creator hypothesis. I kept calling B.S. on his stupid claims, until finally he said "read the bible to find instructions from God." After laughing like a mental patient, I wrote "the Holy Bible is a plagiarized book of fiction filled with hate speech, logical contradictions and idiotic dogma." The internet troll suddenly stopped replying.
