Why do think I'm wasting my life? I chose to be a christian. The few atheists I'm acquainted with don't seem to be enjoying life any more than I do.

That's our point.
No noticeable improvement in quality of life with or without a god.
Maybe it slipped out?

It's not a teaching of christianity that it would improve the physical quality of your life. In fact, Jesus said that if we followed him, we would face trials and persecution.

Well then you must be doing something wrong.

I don't think you are wasting your life. But I think you are wasting time spent on religion.
Atheists are in my experience are as happy as Christians, but with less guilt and free Sundays.
And I have know people made very unhappy worrying about god.

Sorry, no disrespect to anyone, but I find that highly ironic as the vast majority of trials and persecutions have occurred due to religious differences.

I agree that, on average, atheists in this country are as happy as christians, but it doesn't have anything to do with what is true. You think christians are wasting time spent on religion, which makes sense since you are an atheist, but christians don't think they're wasting time spent on religion. When it comes down to it though, I'd rather follow the truth regardless of whether it's makes me happier or not. As to free Sundays, I'm not a football fan and baseball games are always on in the afternoon and evening.

Where do get that from?

That I agree with. The truth is always more worthwhile.

Good luck.

I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

He was talking to his disciples at the time, who did suffer extreme persecution from the Jewish leaders and then from the Romans and other gentile rulers. During the middle ages, christians suffered persecution from popes and other church leaders. Now christians are suffering persecution in many places in the world from muslims or secular governments. I'm suffering persecution from the US government because I can't open a pharmacy and refuse to sell abortive birth control. I face adversity from my own wife for being christian. When he said we would face trial and suffer persecution he was speaking in general. It's very common to speak in this way. Because God blessed me and life is wonderful (which it isn't) doesn't mean I'm not undergoing trials for being christian.
