Abortion is morally wrong

In the united states abortions are only suppose to take place as late as 16 weeks which at this point the baby is not yet a fetus. But abortions most commonly take place around 6-8 weeks of pregnancy.

No no no. Please do not discuss abortion until you learn some facts. This is an embarrassment.

No, if men were the ones getting pregnant we would create a portable device to instantaneously abort anytime we want.

I've been going back and forth with an old Christian acquaintance of mine on Facebook on this very topic the last few days, and I just want to say that I have found this thread very useful as a resource for arguments and rebuttals. It would be nice to have a forum with locked threads that listed all of the primary contentions and counterpoints of major issues such as this one though I'm sure it would be a tedious process to compile something like that and make it concise, easy to locate, and exhaustive--as many subjects such as this tend to require.

I think DP makes this suggestion every now and then and regrets it by page 2.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Personally, I don't think anyone who feels it is morally wrong to have an abortion should be made to have one. But if you can't yourself actually have an abortion, it would be best to raise your hand politely and put out what you believe tentatively, recognizing you're not a full party to the discussion.

If you can actually have an abortion yourself and don't think it morally acceptable, I urge you to consider how important it is for you to have the right to avoid having one. Then extend that same consideration to other women, recognizing their feelings about it may also be strong but become conflicted when circumstances necessitate a more than hypothetical decision.

Why don't you just write them down or memorize them?

I do hold abortion for non-medically necessary reasons to be morally wrong the same as I do for war and executions. We should not have the right to determine who lives or who dies. What if a life that is aborted could have gone on to help cure cancer or even help just one person live a better life?
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

More often, the "un-aborted" go on to be criminals. It's a confluence of class and opportunity. Meh.

Should we have the right to decide for another what shall or what shall not be allowed to grow in her womb? Whatever moral difficulty there may be will have to be handled by the woman whose womb has the unwanted baby growing in it. We can all say in the abstract what we would or should do, but only she has a practical decision to make. It has to be hers to decide.
