To The Christians...What Denomination Are You?

Because 'we' don't know who has been called and who has not. Look at the example of Paul/Saul of Tarsus. He started out life Hating Christians, and ended up being one of the Founding Fathers of the Church.

Again, why bother?

Not knowing doesn't change a thing when it comes to preordained.

Godschild and Chad wooter are not Calvinists. Do you consider them Christian also, Drich?

I ask because I have noticed that some Calvinists express that nonCalvinists aren't Christian.

Why bother getting an education if we don't now who will be sucessful at life?
I mean the risk is tremendous. The out initial outlay/debt of just a 4 year degree, let alone a masters or doctorate, Faultering econmic times, Globaly tied ecconomies mean far more people foreign and domestic pour into a limited job market.. (I heard on the news last night that law students are at an all time low for these very reasons) All of these things means that a large number who go to school for a specific purpose will not be able to find a job in their perfered field, let alone find a job that pays well enough for them to be considered sucessful.

Why bother getting married if we don't know who will get divorced. For that matter why even date?

Why bother excersize or eat right if anyone of us for any reason could get/have cancer or any other mality and die?

Why? Because we do not know the outcome, therefore we follow our hearts, and do the best with what we have been given.

If we haven't been given anything we can ask for it.

Like wise if anything about Heaven, God, or eternal life sparks your intrest then it would be in your best interest to take what God has given you and be faithful to this intrest and activly seek Him out as He has commanded we do.

Again, Calvin has nothing to do with who is and is not a Christian. Only Christ can make that determination. He said we must be faithful to what we have been given. If Chad and GC are faithful to what God gave them and it has lead them to where they are at Spiritually then I don't see any fault in that no matter what they believe, but again I am not the one they must answer to either.

What's so bad about being a Calvinist?

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I never understood the point to Calvinism. If god has already preordained who's to be saved, then why bother?

Correct, that's one argument against the idea of preordained salvation, there are others also.

I don't understand why Christians never want to say specifically what they believe. They always say they aren't religious and so forth. Probably they keep their specific beliefs nebulous so nobody can criticize them.

Ask me a question and I will tell you what I believe, that's if you are serious.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

O.k., I hope this doesn't seem insulting, but what are you trying to accomplish with those quotes in your signature? If you honestly believe in hell, then don't you think it is in poor taste to make a joke about Nietzsche or anybody else going to hell?

In New Church theology, predestination refers to God having prepared beforehand a place for all in Heaven, a destination, but it is still up to us to accept that destination as our own. If we had no choice then why in Scripture does God continually call on us to repent?
