The impudent interference of the European's way of life and values

RE: The impudent interference of the European's way of life and values
I don't know about the rest of Europe, but here in Italy (of all places!) going to school with shorts or mini-skirts, when not explicitly forbidden by school rules, is strongly frowned upon. You go there to learn, not to show dat sick cleavage (which is perfectly fine in other contexts).

Schools are not clubs, I don't see the problem with dressing appropriately.
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.

Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.

Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.

Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.

Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."

Yay, bigotry. It is so democratic.

I know right? Those damn easterners with their orthodox christian beliefs(christmas at the 6th of january, pff) came to portugal when the money was good and left when the crisis hit. Oportunist commies they are. /nuttery.

Either way, it is fascinating what fear does to people.

I hate everyone, even other Brits, so overall it doesn't really effect my level of hate ^_^

I think BG is that Hungarian camera woman who kicks refugee children and claims it was out of her motherly instinct.

Thanks for showing up. But it didn't need any reminder of what you are.

When I read the word "savages" it does suggest bigotry.

However, I do think it is a double-standard for any immigrant, much less a refugee,
to expect the country to which they are fleeing to change, to accommodate THEM.

They are already getting a new lease on life,
and a whole bunch of new freedoms, rights, and opportunities.

I'm afraid I am not overly sympathetic, as a result,
when it comes to accommodating their cultural comfort level.

It will be up to THEM to adapt to OUR culture,
not the other way around.

Consider the opposite:

If I, as a Western woman, traveled to certain Muslim countries,
I would be expected to conform to THEIR cultural expectations.

Walking around with my head uncovered, in a push-up bra and stiletto heels
kissing my boyfriend in public, might not be well-received.

Should I demand that THEIR country conform to MY comfort-level?

I don't think that's bigotry.

It's just common sense and courtesy.

Ok, MTL. Should we throw out our hard won liberties and values? No, not one bit. In some cases though, ordinary pragmatism is in order to avoid problems. These exceptions should however remain case by case decisions and not bleed into the general social norm or laws, I fully agree with that.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
