Thanks, I had a lot of fun making it. It hasn't been used in quite some time, but when their younger cousins come over its definitely a big hit! I try to do as many little memory making things as I can for the whole family. I also take the time with each one (hard with 5) to do something one on one. Maybe it's just playing a game, reading a book, teaching them a magic trick or just talking about our day, but I know things like that go a long way in building who they will become.
Oh, it absolutely will!!!
One of my fondest childhood memories was Mom reading a bedtime story to my sisters and myself,
and Dad would be a one-man show, acting it out.
Dad as the "Big Bad Wolf" huffing and puffing to blow our bedroom door down, was HILARIOUS.
(he was good at slapstick and self-deprecating humour)
Even Mom would be wetting herself, laughing.
And yet, it was just a bedtime story, with a little effort thrown in.
LOL I do the same things
Anything to get those belly laughs and smiles is worth it.
We are not made happy by what we acquire but by what we appreciate.

Never got in to Thundercats. I was a Masters of the Universe/Transformers kid.
We loved them all....Jem, Masters of the Universe, Thundercats, GI Joe, Transformers.
The same hot pink plastic shower-curtain liner that was used to make my dress when I was Jem,
also served to make my cape when I was She-Ra, the following year.
My dad whittled a little wooden dagger for me when I was Peter Pan,
and it did double-duty as my "sword" when I was She-Ra, too.
It was a big hit, at the school Halloween parade.
Imagine a kid carrying a wooden dagger to school, nowadays?
Come to that, imagine kids having Halloween at school, nowadays?

Right now, your daughters think that's really cool.
Someday, they will look back and choke up over what a sweet Dad they have.
When I was little, I wanted to be "Jem" for halloween and my Dad went to the trouble of making me little earrings that actually had flashing lights in them (you'd have to be familiar with the cartoon to understand).
And that was just one year. We didn't have a lot of money, but he always took the time to do the most amazing things.
MTL, that is truly outrageous. Truly, truly, truly outrageous!
Forgive me, Rocky, but there is something rather humourous about the fact,
that after all the horrendous stories you've told us about your experiences,
....you actually know that song. lol

There are few things more authentic in this world than a little kid who is really cracking up.

We had no cable attached to our TV, but we could rent tapes from the public library for our VCR. My sister was so obsessed with Gem, from seeing it at her friends' house, that she begged the librarian to get the series on tape (which was a bigger deal, back then, than it is today-- shows didn't release "VHS box sets" or whatever, like nowadays). I will likely never get that song out of my head.
Me, I was obsessed with the original BattleStar Galalactica, Space 1999, Star Trek, StarWars, and the animated version of The Hobbit (must've watched them all a thousand times). Sometimes I'd watch cartoons at my friends' houses, like Scooby Doo, Transformers, etc., but it wasn't really my speed. I mostly read books and played outside.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

I hate to ruin everyone's childhood, but I thought you all should be aware of this...
I admit. I used to watch that show.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

It's funny you should say that.
Watching the cartoon was just the catalyst, for us.
the best part of She-Ra, ThunderCats, GI Joe, was making up a live-action game to play outside,
playing the characters ourselves.
(we must have looked like idiots, trying to "transform" into cars, lol)
It's a wonder than nothing like THIS, ever transpired:

Ahh... flashing back to many happy memories of chasing my friends around the neighborhood, making engine and blaster noises, and holding this aloft to make it "swoop" through the sky:
On a related note, I found a dad who might be as good a father as Kingpin:
