RE: Kids
My son refused to ride his bike, when they took the training wheels off. He was like, "they're there for a reason! Put them back!"

He was 8 before he decided, on his own, that he didn't want them on there anymore. There's no convincing him of anything he doesn't want to accept/believe on his own. Then when he comes up with his own reasons for it... boom... it happens, easy-peasy.

You hope for a high-IQ kid, until you realize it means they're not just gonna believe anything you tell 'em. Tongue
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Oh, my son's got a healthy IQ. It's just that he's fearless.

I just got done paying for his 18th birthday present ... skydiving. Now, I'd told him that there's only two things that fall from the sky -- birdshit and fools -- but just like yours, he doesn't believe Dad.

Apparently as a kid I used to urinate out of the window into the neighbour's garden.

I would also randomly walk up to other families and start talking to them, or up people's driveways towards their house. I had to literally be kept on reins.

RE: Kids
My daughters ten now, so she's well passed the kids-say-the-darnedest-things age, and my memories of her funny things usually come up naturally in conversation. But! My nephews on the other hand are 6 and 8 and the shit they say has me rolling on a daily basis.

My dog, Ripley (got a new dog by the way, I guess this is the announcement), and my 6yo nephew are in the other room, rough housing and laughing. I hear my sister yell "No!", so I peek in and there's Ripley humping away at my nephew in the fetal position still laughing his ass off, and my nephew yells through his laughter "Why are trying to marry me!? Stop trying to marry me!"
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Isn't it amazing the things we will do for our kids?  When my twins turned 6, they were still so in to performing and loved to sing and dance all the time.  So for their birthday, I built a castle stage in our basement with a backstage area for costume changes, wireless microphones for singing, windows for puppet shows and a disco ball.

I miss these days.  They will be 11 in December.  Still fun but on a different level.  Some time (most times) too smart for their own good.  And they are starting to discover boys.....I got 4 more grey hairs just last week.

RE: Kids
I love the chuckle at the end of the video. I'm always inappropriately laughing when my kids do stuff like that.

My four year-old is one of those smart kids that thinks he's always right that Rocket mentioned, so I'm always getting into little "arguments" with him trying to explain things. Sometimes I just give up, though, when it's clear I'm not going to make any headway. I was driving him to meet his mother at work the other day, and I ran into one of those situations. After I said, "Okay, Okay, you're right," just to end the whole thing, there was a brief silence, and I hear him quietly mumble so that I won't hear, "You've got a lot to learn, Daddy." I wasn't really sure what I had heard, so I asked him if that was what he said. He started laughing really hard and so did I.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
