A Hindu Perspective: Science vs. Spirituality

Hi,

I never claimed to understand either reality. I've only presented a view point that spirituality and science are two different realities, and you have to have qualifications to understand either one. Neither spirituality can be understood be science or science understood by spirituality without the proper qualifications.

Thanks

Qualifications? For spirituality?

I hope you're a Poe troll, or else this got insane fast.

Once the evidence is in, that's the time to take things seriously. Until then, clinging to the hope that there will be evidence is foolish.

And if you want to divorce spirituality from science, then there can never be evidence. Unfalisifiable nonsense it is then.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. The essay was meant to show that science and spirituality are different realities, and in essence there is no way that sicence can provide evidence that can prove or disprove spirituality.

"Unfalisifiable nonsensen it is then" once again the essay clearly points out that if you don't qualify yourself to understand a different reality then of course is will be nonsense to you, just like a dog would not make sense of anything a rocket scientist would say.

Where do I have to send my money to have a spiritual qualification printed up, let's just cut to the chase, shall we?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I certainly don't understand spirituality, because I don't know what it is. What is it? As I said, please no metaphors.

I don't need to disprove things that haven't been proven, or even established as anything other than imaginary.

Hi,

Read the stories of saints, and if you feel inspired then try to live the life they talk about.

A nice story:

"A man once when to a saint and said do I have to give up sex, drugs and other things I enjoy doing, and the saint said of course not, but if you keep coming here I can't promise you that you will just stop wanting to do them automatically."

To claim anything about something you need to have knowledge about it. You are stating spirituality cannot be understood by science because they exist in separate realities. Which implies you have knowledge of this other reality while you yourself exist within our reality, yet you state a scientist who also exists within the same reality cannot understand it.

Also regarding "proper qualifications" please define specifically what qualifications you mean.

Hi,

You do bring up a good point when you ask what is spirituality. I was planning to write another essay on the essence of spirituality in a few days. I wanted to first establish the argument that science and spirituality should not be considered as something that can co-exist, they are very different things. Once this point is established I can then talk about what is spirituality. Hopefully you will read it. Would love to hear your comments about it.

Thanks.

Trouble is, reading the stories of "saints" only inspired me to ignore the advice of "saints". Personally, I'd rather live a good life for the right reasons. It's important to me, and "saints" aren't any help there, in fact they're a hindrance to that goal. You get your jollies out of hero worship, I don't. To each his own.

Please don't bother! Writing essays is meaningless in this context, especially when what you are stating can be easily summarized within a few sentences, if not words, retaining the same depth as your entire essay.
