In this engaging article, the author sets out to point out the mistakes Daniel Dennett makes in an editorial. Daniel predictably spins the facts to make it sound like the data supports atheism, and it called out, point by point, on his errors. But along the way was this interesting description of why atheistic criticisms of theism fail:

The faith that the New Atheists set out to mock, refute, and dispel was invariably the least impressive, least informed, least sophisticated, most easily dismissed form of the world's great religious traditions. If faith for you is believing in the most scripturally literalistic, doctrinally fundamentalist, ahistorical, credulous, theologically illiterate variant of devotion, well, then Harris-Dawkins-Hitchens probably rocked your world. But as any reader with even a cursory religious education discovered by about page 3 of any of their books, the not-great God of the New Atheists was nothing more than a big old Straw Man in the Sky.

If you want to convince us that Christians are incapable of objectivity and rational thinking, but are instead experts at projecting their personal faults onto those they hate, you're doing a great job.

Keep going. You're helping our cause immensely, as neutral parties come here and see this kind of nonsense from you and your ilk, and they realize that your accusation of intellectual bankruptcy is nothing but a projection of Christianity's weakness in an attempt to mask the weakness.

It's why you always make accusations without foundation or specifics, why you won't listen when you're told you're wrong about how we feel/believe, and why you keep trying to create an atheist hierarchy like that of a church. I don't know about a "new atheist," but the new Christian is ready to admit that people who believe the Bible ate the least impressive, least informed, least sophisticated, most easily dismissed.

I can't argue with the new Christian for he uses the Etch a Sketch version of the Bible.
