It doesn't matter what the majority is. Nobody is winning 100% of the majority. Estimites are that a candidate needs 47% of the Latino vote to win. If you're Trump, you have to make up that huge deficit somewhere. Where? Blacks love the Clintons. White males will probably favor Trump but females will favor Hillary by at least the same margin. Where do the Trump voters come from that put him over the top?

That's a ridiculous estimate. Also totally irrelevant consider that Trump and Hillary actually are polling pretty close to one another. So whatever theory you have, it's not backed up by the actual polling, which has Trump without 2.5%

The electoral college system makes predicting elections quite difficult. Pollsters have been predicting a Trump over Clinton victory recently.

Well go ahead and vote for Trump in the Primary. Please. I have already registered as a Republican and will vote for him myself.

The people who support Trump will not acquiesce to having any other person in the White House, certainly not Clinton or Sanders. Indeed, can anyone imagine Trump giving a “Concession Speech” to either of them and pledging to help either one make America Whole again? Is it not more likely he will give a “call to arms” instead?

The people who oppose Trump will likely not accept Trump in the White House even if he wins the election. Non-Christians, the LGBT community, African Americans, Latinos, and women will likely feel the heat of fascism within weeks of him taking the oath. Add to them any “liberal”, intellectuals, and artists who don't toe the new party line. The spring of 2017 will be one of protests and cities burning no matter who “wins”.

Which side the American Military backs is an open question. Trump might give them the chance to try and rule the world by arms, something I think they really would like to try. On the other hand they might see him as a threat to the very society that buys them their toys and gives them their power. If that is the case then he, and we, are well and truly fucked. A military dictatorship that slowly gives way to a new democracy would be the only, and very small, hope.

In any case, the rise of Mr. Trump is the death kneel of the American empire. What we are 50 years from now is anyone's guess. Maybe something better will have grown from the ashes, more likely our grand kids will still be trying to sift through the rubble.

The only possible way that the nation survives with any real future will require two things. The first is that Mr. Trump and the Republicans suffer a defeat so devastating as to threaten the very existence of the party. Not only in the national election, but at the State level as well. The second thing is that Clinton or Sanders, and the Democrats, take advantage of the loss and ruthlessly eviscerate conservative ideology using every bit of power at their disposal. That means overhauling Wall Street, ending the endless wars, reigning in the military, over turning Citizens United, guaranteeing the voting rights of every American, empowering unions, and putting racism, misogyny, bigotry, and the oppression of any and all minorities to flight in a nation dedicated to universal human rights and economic justice.

Does anyone think Sanders, Clinton, or the Democrats are the least bit interested in doing any such thing?

And I thought I my view of Trump was alarmist. . .   Apparently I didn't know what the word meant.

Trump will win all of the Red States plus New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan, Florida, Virginia, and Ohio.
