I miss those.
I don't. Not since getting sued over shit I didn't even download.
Except, maybe, for movies, most of the stuff available through torrent is available elsewhere. You just have to dig a little.

Personally I found there was not nearly enough programming available free on Prime to justify the expense and the free shipping only encouraged me to spend money on shit I don't need.
I took advantage of the free shipping for the trial period and cancelled.

Well, I'm currently looking at professional hair dryers. Someone took my concentrator and our school won't replace it. I can't buy just that part so I need a whole new dryer.
Pisses me off a bit.

I don't mind the idea of Amazon Prime because I buy a lot from Amazon, but I don't sign up on principle really because of the way they're marketing it. I don't think it's right. It's now like you go through the whole ordering process and on every page they're trying to either guilt you - 'no, I do not want to save x pounds' - or trick you (buttons for accept vs barely visible links for decline) into signing up for a free trial. It's very sneaky and underhand, like how installers from download sites like Sourceforge try to covertly install extra software unless you're vigilant. I don't appreciate Amazon putting me in that position so mainly for that reason I don't sign up. Until they change their approach I'll stick with free super saver delivery.

If you sign up for the free trial then cancel, I believe all (or at least most) of that crap goes away.

One of the things I found out about Prime streaming media was that there are three price tiers for streaming media. There is the content included free with Prime, then there are streaming movies which may be rented from $3-$7 each, depending on popularity. However, Amazon has a limited collection of inexpensive streaming titles, so after a short period, the only way to rent a former streaming title is to buy the title for from $15-20. The amount of movies in the $3-7 range is somewhat underwhelming, considering that those are the most economical and desirable titles.

Thanks for the info In that case I might do what CD did and use it only for the duration of the free trial - but only when I'm already planning to buy something - then cancel... but I have to say I am concerned that it might not be as easy to cancel as they make out given the underhand methods they're using to hook you in in the first place. I suppose the rational thing to do was to look at my order history and work out the average amount I spend on postage a year... and see if it comes anywhere close to £70. First guess though is that it won't because I always the slower free super saver delivery if it's available... because I don't mind waiting and it's actually quite an efficient service and certainly reliable... but that doesn't cover marketplace purchases or any orders under £20... so I am curious. It would be nice to have guaranteed next day delivery on everything but I can live without it.

I've got prime, hulu, netflix, and hbonow.
I like hbo best for programming. Prime best overall (I buy alot of shit), netflix best for binging. Hulu I have for archer, americans, and tyrant...I think about cancelling every month, but then forget to.

As far as cancelling.goes, it was less hassle than I expected. I cancelled a day after the trial ended and received a full refund. It's possible that it's changed since then.
