Despite the obstructionism, the government still spends billions more every day than it takes in, so it's not like any (over)spending programs were inconvenienced in the least.

And it's not like Ted Cruz forced the government to shut down because Obama refused to rescind the ACA (as if he actually had that power) with his little filibuster.  Yeah, that's not obstructionist at all, that's totally working with the other party to get things done.

Because that is entirely false equivocation.  Government doesn't just exist to serve as a lightening rod for people's anger and elections aren't opportunities for expressing your most ardent desires.  Politics should be the art of compromise not blood sport.

All I see is Obama trying to compromise, and the republicans refusing anyway. When he first got in, the dems had a super majority, but obama still tried giving some concessions. Not to mention his supreme court pick was a centrist, and they don't care. Hillary says she looks forward to working with repubs, because she's basically a moderate republican. I'm not sure how you can say the dems have been as bad as the repubs for the past eight years when it coms to failure to compromise.

It's totally not false equivocation.  The Democrats never held the budget hostage, shutting down the government and threatening a crisis just because they didn't like something W did.  Nor did they ever state that they would absolutely refuse to hold hearings on a Supreme Court nominee, no matter who it is, just because W appointed them.  Republicans are all about obstructionism if someone they don't like is in the White House.

No, no.  I was agreeing with Chad32 in what he had written in response to Cato:

Yeah, I was agreeing with your criticism of Cato's post.

Yeah, I was agreeing with your criticism of Cato's post.

I may have misinterpreted that, then. Oops.
