To not pull the same shtick as he pulled in his state on a national level, that's what the cast said. The audience is another matter. They protested him. Just making use of their freedom of expression in not agreeing with a certain public figure appearing and what they stand for.
No, they WERE standing up to a bully, just with a different tactic.
Both Martin Luther King and Malcolm X were after the same thing. Better treatment for African Americans. One was more polite and the other more blunt and confrontational, but BOTH were feared minorities for no good reason.
The bully always pulls the "Why are you getting so uppity?" when called out.
I think even with atheists we know we have run into situations where you are damned if you do and damned if you dont. We can identify with trying to be polite and still get nowhere. The bully will even see you as a threat even when you are polite. It is a no win situation so you cannot slap one solution on it.
You need both hot and cold water, not either or.
Others here can deal with Trump and Pence the way they choose. But no, after 5 years of birtherism, and a year of scapegoating multiple groups, and threatening media and political rivals, this isn't a no name we are dealing with here. He is a literal threat to minorities and on a global scale a literal threat to global stability.
He needs to be put in his place, with all available non violent tactics including blasphemy.
