Ford cancels plans to build in Mexico, will invest in Michigan

http://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/fo.../96102086/
Quote:Ford is investing $700 million to expand its Flat Rock assembly plant and hire 700 new hourly workers to build self-driving and electric vehicles along with the Mustang and Lincoln Continental already produced at the Downriver site.
The automaker also said it is canceling plans for a new $1.6 billion plant in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, but confirmed that the next-generation of its Focus compact will be produced at its Hermosillo, Mexico factory.
Ford CEO Mark Fields said the decision to cancel the plant in Mexico was based in part on changing market conditions with sales of small cars declining as well as the pro-business climate the automaker expects under President-elect Donald Trump.

It's interesting, the pro-union, anti-free trade people in the Democratic party will still find some way to hate on it. Ultimately though, I think the world is better off with the jobs in Mexico. Those jobs are sought after in Mexico, reduce illegal immigration to the US and Americans are a bunch of spoiled whiny babies who can learn to live with less.

First, old news. Secondly, as always, there's more to it, as Forbes reports.
Quote:Fields emphasized, however, that the company's decision to cancel a factory already under construction in Mexico was a business decision driven primarily by "a decline in overall demand for small cars."

Old news? It's being reported on today?
If you want to pretend that Trump had nothing to do with this, when their chief exec literally said "We see a more positive U.S. business environment under Trump", and "this is a vote of confidence in president-elect Trump" then you are deluded to fuck.
Lemme guess, if the election result was different this would have still happened right?
Trump's done more to keep American jobs before he's even sworn in, than Obama has in the last 8 years.
"What magic wand?" It's called balls and a brain.

OP's article did mention that. It's sort of hard to pretend that Trump didn't have a positive impact on this one.

Oh Napo, my little previleged friend. Do you think you are entitled to make a post copypasted from reddit. For my personal opinion, why don't you stay on reddit? I mean, we all have it, why the redundancy? What is your opinion?
Oh I am really smart, I saw a post on reddit and bait people on AF.org. What hap? got your ass handed to you plenty of times over there? I thought you were Brit.
