Thanks for the response scoob. And I'm sorry, but I still fail to see how the wall will help keep people from sneaking over the border. I know you said it's just "one thing" but it's one very expensive thing. Spending so much money on something that probably won't do anything to help seems very foolish and a huge waste. Don't you agree that anyone who wants to get through it will be able to do so just fine?

Roughly 59% of the illegal immigrants in the US are from Mexico, which is why the wall on the southern border makes a lot more sense then it does to make one on the northern border with Canada.

That being said, there are other ways to get in. 20 billion although sounds like a lottery jackpot is not that much money in the form of an investment. When you avoid illegals coming in and sending money back to their home countries, you start to have citizens work for those jobs, and since business pays for labor they are going to finally have to pay a higher wage. This will translate into higher prices in some industry, but will be offset by trade, and wages of the consumer. We have a major trade deficit with Mexico since NAFTA was signed. Billions of dollars per year. If we could get to a trade surplus by bringing manufacturing here, which is already being planned, we will start to get rid of the national debt, and build local economies bringing success to this country. It's not about race, it's about national preservation. 
Although you never pull the race card, as a former leftist, I understand why the left does. It's a way to shut down opposition to viewpoints. A border wall is simply common sense for national economic security which benefits all citizens. The left are like teenagers who use the families wealth to by drugs, and leave the door unlocked when they come home drunk and go sleep in the basement because they don't have jobs and really no loyalty to the family unit.

If American workers are hired to build it, this would be a great investment to put Americans to work and the money would be reinvested in the local economies. Or Mexico could build it and put their citizens to work to help build their local economy. This is just the start of infrastructure spending and putting citizens back to work and building local economies.

It's ironic because Mexico is building their own wall to keep migrants from traveling through Mexico into the US, so not only would our wall help the US, it would help Mexico. It's a win win situation!

To clarify, are you saying then that the wall is a good idea only because it would give people a job while they build it? If so, is it reasonable to pay billions to build useless things only so that people will get paid doing it?

I've got a much better idea for all that money. It'll provide construction jobs for decades and maintenance and operation jobs for much, much longer. Build a mag-lev train line from L.A. to N.Y. (with plenty of N/S spurs) to help reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels and increase security against terror attacks. A kind of modern "New Deal."

Somehow, I don't think Daffy is that forward thinking.
