Because, quite apart from firearm deaths being the topic of discussion, guns are one of the few items that cause grievous injury and loss of life when used exactly as the manufacturer intended. We've been over this.

Yup and then like cars you should have too register it .And certain guns should not be allowed . And people with history of violent crimes or mental instability should not be allowed to own one . By your "freedom" logic people should be allowed to own anything . Social responsibility  sometimes trumps freedom .
