RE: So, Brits. How's Brexit Going?

Brexit... a slow-mo trainwreck!
Could it be that now the train might get back on track?
I've seen some idiots wanting to have a second referendum, while that BBC article said "But the decision to stay must "follow a democratic process", so in the UK's case, it would have to be approved by Parliament. "
There should have never ever been a referendum for something that affects the whole country in such a profound way. The people are never half decently equipped to decide these things and are easily swayed into the populist position. That's the government's job. Let them do their job. Let them decide to stop Brexit.
If I remember correctly, Mrs. May even campaigned against Brexit, so she might just vote in against it in parliament, now.
But first, tomorrow's parliamentary vote on the deal. Let's see if these guys do their jobs properly.

Why do you call wanting a second referendum idiotic? It's our only way of stopping Brexit. After all, the current government isn't going to and if we get another general election we don't know if Labour would cancel it either.

Hah. You have too much confidence in the competency of our politicians.

Or a way of "confirming" the people's will and sink the ship even further after the deal was refused.
A referendum on such a topic was always idiotic.
Parliament can decide to stop Brexit. They don't need another referendum.

But they won't stop Brexit. So what else are we supposed to do? Let it happen without fighting it? That would be completely idiotic. Especially now we know that Article 50 can be rescinded.

I'm willing to bet that if we had a second referendum we would see a very different result. People were duped first time around, and the youngsters would definitely be out in force voting this time.

Exactly. Lots of people voted as a protest not expecting Brexit to happen. Many more voted because the referendum was rigged. And by that I mean passed off as an advisory referendum rather than binding which meant that the rules were less strict and people didn't have to know what they were voting for. Add to that spending limits were flouted by the Leave campaign, the role of Cambridge Analytica and Russia and people now know that they were lied to.
Yeah sure call Brits idiotic for falling for the lies, but don't fucking sit there calling us idiotic for trying to fix a successful coup and subversion of the democratic process by monied interests when it's not even your country on the verge of collapse.

The people who know that are almost the same ones who voted remain.
Those who voted to leave will still be idiots... maybe a few will flip, but I doubt those would be enough.
I lost my faith in humanity after the first Brexit referendum and then Trump.... and not long ago, Bolsonaro in Brazil.
Not to mention all the far right parties gaining momentum all over Europe...
So, let the politicians do their job. It's what they should have done from the start... Idiot Cameron.

Let the politicians do their job? They're the fuckers that got us into this mess.
It's generally not a good idea to hope that the people who caused the problem are the ones to fix it.

I admit ignorance, but I'm under the impression that the Tory government caused the problem, not parliament...
