"What are you doing on Saturday night?"
"Staring at this statue with my friends"
But it also reminded me of this video by ex-Evangelicals who went to Evangelical college and how they even had cards to track if they spent assigned time in the chapel. How they were constantly supervised, even when they were in their rooms someone would pass every 15 minutes to check them. And if they watched a movie together and were covered with blankets, they had to keep their hands outside so that there was no chance that they were masturbating under the blanket.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I discovered that they charged my ex wife $1500 for an annulment of our marriage. By willing to bet there's a hefty fee for de baptism.

Priest in Spain who preached on the affective disorder of homosexuality publicly harassed
Father Oscar Martín, a priest of the Diocese of Ciudad Real, Spain, has been publicly harassed for preaching the Catholic doctrine on homosexuality, explaining in a homily that the lack of parental affection in childhood is the origin of same-sex attraction “in many cases.”
Martín explained that “in many cases, this comes from a lack that was not satisfied at the beginning of his life, in the first days, months of his life.”
Specifically, he referred to someone born “with a special sensitivity, more sensitive, more in need of attention, affection, kisses, hugs, games, physical contact with his father.”
In such a way that a lack of esteem in childhood is expressed in these people “with that sexual content” when “what he seeks is healthy affection and healthy affection from another man, which he has not received as a child.”
The Church also teaches that homosexual tendencies are “objectively disordered” and that same-sex attraction “constitutes for most of them a trial.”
Regarding homosexual acts, the Catechism states that “they are intrinsically disordered” and “do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity,” such that “under no circumstances can they be approved.”

Buahaha! Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
Quote:Late Cardinal George Pell called Pope a 'catastrophe' in anonymous memo
The Australian cardinal, who died on Tuesday aged 81, was one of Pope Francis' top aides until he stepped down to face child sex abuse charges.
The memo was published on a Vatican blog site under a pseudonym last year.
It detailed what the author deemed were failures of the current Pope and a list of priorities for choosing the next.
In the anonymous memo, the author wrote that "Christ is being moved from the centre" of the Church under Pope Francis, and that the Vatican's political prestige had fallen to "a low ebb" under his tenure.
"Commentators of every school, if for different reasons… agree that this pontificate is a disaster in many or most respects; a catastrophe," the memo says.
"The first tasks of the new pope will be to restore normality, restore doctrinal clarity in faith and morals, restore a proper respect for the law and ensure that the first criterion for the nomination of bishops is acceptance of the apostolic tradition," the memo reads.
Pope Francis will deliver a final send-off at a funeral mass for Cardinal Pell on Saturday, as is custom for cardinals.

All because Bergoglio refused to shield him from the criminal trial arising out of his child abuse.

Bergoglio was Pell's biggest cheerleader during the trial and held him in the Vatican when he was released from prison.
Swiss bishops reiterate ‘rules’ after woman appears to concelebrate Mass
Only ordained priests may preside at Mass, and the liturgy should not be “a testing ground for personal projects”, three Swiss bishops have said.
Their intervention follows controversy over a video circulated online of a laywoman who seemed to concelebrate Mass with priests.
Schmid acknowledged that as a woman she can’t validly celebrate the Eucharist as ordained Catholic priests do. She said the controversy was based on a video clip uploaded to the internet without the knowledge of all the participants.
“And some are already seeing red when they see a woman at the altar in a photo,” she said.

So the bishops claim that the "only" problem here is not that she is a woman but because she is a layperson. Well that is a lie because the Church is already employing laypeople to hold mass:
"The move comes as the Archdiocese of Tuam announced plans in a pastoral letter this Advent for lay-led liturgies to be held in churches when no priest is available to say Mass."

Mentally disabled girl, 14, raped by her uncle is refused an abortion by Polish hospitals
A disabled 14-year-old who was raped by her own uncle has been refused an abortion in Poland, sparking outrage in the conservative country.
The Catholic nation has some of the strictest laws on abortion in Europe, and doctors can even refuse to provide them on ethical grounds, a law which has been slammed by women's rights activists.

So much for giving all your money to feed the poor
Quote:$5.4 million altar for World Youth Day generates controversy in Portugal
Although Pope Francis hasn’t even formally confirmed his presence yet, the 2023 edition of World Youth Day in Lisbon is already generating controversy over a $5.4 million price-tag for the altar area from which the pontiff is expected to celebrate a closing Mass.
Last week Lisbon city officials published details for the massive 54,000-square foot altar and stage area, at a cost of 4.2 million Euro plus VAT, or value-added tax, for a total outlay close to $5.4 million. The contract has been awarded to Portugal’s largest construction company, Mota-Engil.
The expense has generated criticism in the local press and from opposition politicians, who’ve demanded that Mayor Carlos Moedas of Lisbon appear before parliament to answer questions about the awarding of the contract.
“If the housing crisis was an altar for World Youth Day, it would already be solved,” Fabian Figueiredo, from the Left Bloc party, said on Twitter. “The problem is not lack of money but spending priorities.”
In an apparent effort to sidestep the controversy, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni has told news outlets that the organization of the August 1-6 World Youth Day is a local matter, and responsibility for the budget lies with the city council.
Moedas, however, has told reporters that plans for the altar/stage were worked out in meetings with the organizing committee for World Youth Day as well as representatives of both the church in Portugal and also the Vatican.
The altar-stage is designed to accommodate up to 2,000 people, including the pope and his party, 1,000 bishops and 300 other concelebrants, a 200-member choir, 30 translators into sign language, and a 90-member orchestra, along with guests, staff and technicians.
