Gun Ownership soars in Colorado after shooting

RE: Gun Ownership soars in Colorado after shooting
If I was in america right now you know what I'd invest in instead of guns? Concealable body armour.
A guns only a good investment if you assume you'd get the first and only shots off. If you're hit in a vital area a 45. isn't going to do you much good.
Actually, I'd probably invest in both if I'm honest. Not out of fear, I just always wanted to do some target practise with a real 45.

considering the stopping power and velocity of bullet (feet per second) of a .45 - if i was looking to knock someone down, i'd go for anywhere from a .357 to a .44cal. they all have more juice but a blue (black) police issued colt .45 does have some lure.

since i'm not looking to carry concealed (and wouldn't get approved for the permit anyway), you must come into my home to hear the double-click of my mossberg 12ga.

What are the requirements for such a permit anyway?

it's different in every state from what i understand. in pennsylvania, my state, http://www.pafoa.org/law/carrying-firear...aled-carry

i'm pretty sure one major no-no is you can't have committed a crime where a gun was present. if you're a felon, you can't even vote until you fill out proper paperwork after your sentence is served in complete, including parole or probation. since voting isn't quite the danger that obtaining a permit to posses, no less carry concealed, i'm assuming that process requires quite a more intense background check.

I don't think they're ready for my level of whiteness.

If you're shopping for a firearm, .22lr, 20 gauge, and 7.62x39 are the most useful and diverse ammo types imho. So look for something along those lines. If you want stopping power, buy a baseball bat.

If your aim is target practice, a .22 is what you want. The rounds are cheap (and you can carry hundreds in your pockets- if you wanted to-, it wont wreck your wrist or shoulder, they're inexpensive and allowed at just about any range (also, there is very, very little in the way of game that can't be taken down with a .22). Want to shoot a 45 for kicks, rent it from the range. I only mention this because people often dream about owning a gun they have no use for and/or don't really understand what firearm would best fit what they want to do with it. I've also noticed that people become collectors, closets full of guns, they might shoot one or two of them a year..lol.
